Our Team

As the owner of VG Sports, I take pride in having an extremely diverse staff of writers. My focus each year is to make sure we provide quality strategies and tips for every range of players. With that said, I have compiled a versatile team of strategy providers so that no stone is left unturned in our quest to improve your game.

Let me take a quick moment here to introduce the team:

Bert Ingley has been the owner/operator of VG Sports since it began in 2002. Bert has been playing Madden since 1989 on his Apple II computer where he ran his unstoppable offense with “Sweetness” & “Juice.” He wears many hats within the company including handling the all of the project management and marketing duties. As a Gainesville, FL resident, he is a huge Florida Gators supporter and is glad to see them ranked as the #1 team in NCAA Football 10.

Paul Gleason has been playing since Madden 92 on the Sega and is one of the true offensive geniuses of the game. He has consistently been a top ranked player in the online world and is infamous for his explanation of cover 2 defenses to the EA SPORTS marketing team using French fries and bottle of ketchup. Paul is a supremely dedicated worker (really I think he’s part cyborg) and when fortified by basic food and water he is able to spend many consecutive sleepless nights concocting new Madden schemes. Paul is also the “voice” of VG Sports (he’s a former DJ) as he pioneered the first 100% video Madden strategy guide. Paul is a true student of the game and loves to talk X’s and O’s. Paul is a 7-year member of the VG Sports team and brings serious online play experience with thousands of games under his belt.

Ron Jackson came up in the Madden ranks as part of Gametime Philly, which is one of the nastiest and most competitive leagues/crews in the country (Big Gene was a GTP original). A former college safety, Ron brings a mix of real life experience and Madden strategy to the table. Ron is the secondary coach for the Pop Warner Super Bowl Champion Frankford Chargers. Ron is strongly connected in the tournament world where his former crew S-N-S recently took down the Player’s Bowl. This is the most prestigious of the “underground” tournament stops. Ron plays in one of the toughest leagues in the nation and is a key contributor to our team in the area of league play. Ron has been with VG Sports for 6 years now.

Bernie Hayes brought the “Compression” Offense to the Madden scene back in 2005. Much like the Bill Walsh West Coast Offense Tree, Bernie’s style has filtered throughout the Madden community. Just about every tournament champion has utilized the Big B Compression scheme in some way the last few years. As Commissioner of the EMB, he coached and trained numerous national tournament champions including Eric Wright (Problem). Bernie is a well-respected member of the Madden community. He has an uncanny knack for figuring out gaming trends and originating schemes. He has been with VG Sports for 5 years now.

Clifton Gilmore has served as co-commissioner of the EMB, which turned out 2008’s Madden Nation & Madden Challenge champion. In addition to being a top-notch coach and lab partner, he is a top baller in his own right. He’s been to numerous national tournament final fours and took down the winner’s trophy at GTP’s Madden Bowl. Clifton is our resident “stick-skills” expert and has brought techniques such as the rocket catch to the masses. He has been with VG Sports for 3 years now.

Don Tica has over 18 years in the game industry and has witnessed much in the evolution of video games. He remembers hitting the gridiron in John Madden Football back in ‘92 when gamers ran the risk of an ambulance coming out onto the field and driving over players. His job is to make sure that Bert and the guys have the tools to do what they do best. Dominate. He’s an avid sports player in both the cyber and the meat world, and has calves bigger than your head. He has been working with Bert for the past two NCAA Football and Madden game guides.
