Top 5 Reasons You Throw Interceptions: Madden NFL 25

We all throw interceptions. We all blame the game. Unfortunately it’s not the games fault. It’s our own. Below you will find the Top 5 Reasons You Throw Interceptions in Madden.

Throwing Late in the Flat
Quarterback Accuracy
Falling in Love with Your Money Play
Defensive Pressure
Picking Random Plays

5. Throwing Late in the Flat

It’s 3rd & 3 and late in the 4th quarter. You are down by a touchdown and to have a chance at winning the game you need to convert. At the snap of the ball your receiver is open in the flat but you scan the field for better options. You settle on the flat and deliver the throw.

It’s results in a pick 6.

This happens for a couple of reasons.

  1. Greed – it’s 3rd and 3. You only need 3 yards to keep the chains moving, why are you looking elsewhere?
  2. Indecision – before the snap of the ball you should be saying to yourself “I’m going to throw to the flat if the flat is open. If the flat is not open I will check down to my TE who is meshing across the middle of the field.” Decide where you are going to go with the ball and then react as the play unfolds

Pro Tip: In 3rd and short situations your opponent should anticipate you attacking the short field. In this case your strategy is dominated by the situation. Every once in a while look to go deep via a play like 4 Verticals to keep your opponent off balance.

4. Quarterback Accuracy

The most important stat to look at for Quarterbacks in Madden is short accuracy (SAC), medium accuracy (MAC), and deep accuracy (DAC). You need to cater to your quarterback’s strengths.

Spend 2 minutes and look at your quarterbacks ratings and game plan around what type of throws he can and can’t make.

The ideal quarterback should have the following ratings…

  1. SAC – 90+
  2. MAC – 85+
  3. DAC – 80+

This doesn’t mean that you can’t compete if your quarterback doesn’t have these ratings, but I wanted to give you an idea of what a solid rating is. For example DAC is much harder to come by than SAC. You will notice that even the best quarterback’s in the league (Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning) don’t have 90+ DAC ratings.

To give you an idea of what each throw is in relation to yards please see the list below.

  1. SAC = 0-10 yards
  2. MAC = 10-20 yards
  3. DAC = 20+ yards

If you force throws that your quarterback can’t make you will throw interceptions.

Ratings matter and just like in real life you have to play to their strengths.

3. Falling in Love with Your Money Play

How many times have you called Shotgun Trey Open Four Verticals?

WAY TO MANY TIMES

Start calling new plays so you don’t become so predictable. Over the course of a game your opponent will learn your play style and will start clamping down on your “Money Play”. The more predictable you are the more likely you are to throw interceptions.

The easiest thing to do in Madden is defend what you know is coming.

Do this instead…

On 1st down call Four Verticals from Gun Trey Open

On 2nd down call HB Draw from the same formation.

On 3rd  down call HB Slip Screen from the same formation.

In the short term this might frustrate you, but in the long run your win total will thank you.

2. Defensive Pressure

I’m going to make a bold statement.

You don’t block your halfbacks enough and you don’t call slide protection enough.

The result is intense pressure in your quarterback’s face and poorly timed throws causing interceptions. Defensive pressure is what separates the best Madden players on the planet and plays a big part in why you throw interceptions.

You need to focus on picking up your opponent’s pressure. This is priority #1. It’s ok if the pressure gets to you early, but the goal is to make sure that over the course of the entire game you are able to prevent it.

The #1 thing you can do right away to improve your pass protection is to use Shotgun 2 back sets. No matter where the pressure comes from you will be able to pick it up by blocking one (or both) of your backfield players.

Pro Tip: When in doubt block an extra player.

1. Picking Random Plays

There is no better way to throw mass quantities of interceptions than to pick random plays and hope for the best.

Get into practice mode!

Practice mode in Madden is your best friend and you should spend 10 minutes there every time you fire up your system. This will help build confidence for your passing attack and will also expand your play calling.

What you need to do right now is perfect one passing formation and one running formation.

What this will do is allow you to run multiple plays from few formations so that your opponent can’t key in on anything specific that you’re doing. You will dictate the pace of the game and control your opponent this way.

Hop into practice mode right now and perfect 5 passing plays (from the same formation) and 3 running plays (from the same formation) and you will start winning more games.

Madden 25 E3: Top 5 Community Feedback

Hello Madden Tippers, ZFarls here to talk about the 360/PS3 version of Madden 25.  (Not the Xbox One)

ZFarls here from E3 and wanted to share some items, that we felt the community was essential for improving in Madden 25. After playing at E3, it was easy to feel the difference in some key gameplay elements.

5. Buzz Zones

They actually drop back and will play the curl nicely before coming down to wrap up on any flat pass. This was something we have talked about alot on the Madden Tips forums and it was nice to see it working! Got a pick with Nick Perry who dropped into coverage!

4. Audible By Personell

Some gamers thought this would limit them since your 5 audibles to random plays are removed from Madden 25. However, what you get in return is better. You can now set ALL your quick audibles and then audible to any formation that has matching personnel. This was something the team has wanted to implement and they asked important questions as well to give more realism yet more control.

Example: “12″ Personnel is 1 RB, 2 TE’s. So you could audible from Singleback Ace which is this set, to a Gun Ace because it has the same players. This will eliminate things like 5 WR to Goalline and getting WR and TE or HB etc.

3. Cushion and Disguise Coverage

There are some new options when you press Y or Triangle to bring up the defensive coverage options. You can now play off on a 3rd and 8 and with cushion coverage. You can also disguise it to throw off your opponent. If you run alot of man to man blitzes, you can man align and your defenders will line up right over their man!

2. Hot Routes

The fade has been removed to eliminate the motion snap exploit that defeated man to man coverage too easily. You will now be get a hot routed streak that fades towards the sideline when going for the fade. The HB Streak is now more realistic and instead of going straight through the line hits off tackle before cutting upfield. This was tough to stop last year with inside pass lead and feels more authentic.

1. Inside Pass Lead

Last year, Wheels were effective and plays like Pats Wheel Drag and Falcon Cross were very popular. Those wheel routes did a great job beating man to man and an inside pass lead throw to a WR or TE would beat the defense. This has been fixed up to tighten angles and make the game more balanced. It might sounds subtle but it changes those guys who just throw streaks to the TE all day.

Bonus: QB/RB Key Vs Option

This is something that is in NCAA with the coaching adjustments and with the option coming to Madden, I wanted to make sure gamers would have a way to tell their DE where to key. The Dev Team has implemented a pre snap adjustment to tell your DE to take the HB or the QB and it gives you more control of your defense as you try and defend the read option!

These are the areas where the Dev Team really made some nice strides and I felt the Madden Tips community and whole Madden Community was a big part of that, so I wanted to say thanks to you guys for sharing your feedback all year!

We are talking Madden 25 at E3 Here, so get on in there and ask your questions!

How to Force Fumbles in Madden 25!

Playing great defense in Madden 25 will once again be huge factor in separating average players from great ones. Last season, we saw many players use the San Francisco 49ers defense and forces fumbles with their star players like Patrick Willis. A well timed turnover can be the key to turning the momentum of a game, so you want to be ready to knock the ball loose at all times.

Keys to Forcing More Fumbles in Madden 25

5. Hit Hurdlers

Fans of the infinity engine are going to love the new infinity engine 2 in Madden 25. While hurdling was exciting last year, it has gone to another level with precision hurdles. There have been hits that made me scream out at the TV as my player did a flip and lost the ball. Even though hurdles are risky, the joy of completing one is way too tempting to stop. Once again this season, I will be on a mission to give away 100 free fumbles by hurdling at random times, here we go.

4. Find Tired Opponents

Stamina is a huge factor in Madden 25 and players who use too many running moves on one play can really drain their player. Runners who also use combo moves and spin into traffic will likely be at a high fumble risk too. While the ground game will be tough to stop, it could lead to an influx of fumbles in Madden 25 as gamers learn the realism elements.

3. Try out the strip button on defense

In Madden NFL 12, the strip button was a great way to pull the football loose from an opponent. Last season, it was toned down quite a bit and players were better off going for hit sticks instead. At the Madden 25 release, SGibs and I will let you know if we feel the strip button is making a return this season or if you should go for hit sticks. By getting in our 1,000+ hours before the game hits stores, we will have our research done and let you know if it is an effective way to get more fumbles in Madden 25.

2. Know when to wrap up vs when to go for the hit stick!

Learning how to tackle is one of the most overlooked things by new players on the madden scene. There are certain times and situations where you can risk going for a hit stick and other times it is best to let the computer just wrap up. A key move is to just get your defender into position and then click off and let the computer do the work. The new moves are shifty so it will take extra care to make a sure tackle this season.

1. Use a Team with High Hit Power Ratings on Defense

We looked at the Top 5 Defensive Teams in Madden last year and the keys were team speed and great rushers. After a full season, it became clear that great hit power in the secondary was a key to having a great team. We are unsure just how much that will be a factor in Madden 25 but it can never hurt to have defensive players that receivers fear! The 49ers should remain a fearsome team but the Seattle Seahawks have now jumped into the conversation. One key factor on defense will be stopping the run this season. Last year, players didn’t commit many resources to it but this season it has been revamped. If a player is unleashing some Adrian Peterson Run Free moves on you, it may be necessary to use a team with some beef up front like the Giants or Patriots.

Our NCAA Football 14 Guide is now available on Amazon, click here to check it out!  SGibs and ZFarls wrote every word in here and will help get you ready to dominate the football landscape this season!

How To Pass Effectively in Madden 25

Here is a tip from Madden Tip Nation member bearsfan217 who shows us how to prepare for Madden 25 by running the “One Trick Pony Offense” aka the Peyton Manning Offense.

Playbook Used: Denver Broncos

It’s late in the season, dont mind sharing the way i run denver pb. Its more about making reads and audibling, then the actual plays themselves anyways. I started looking into running this playbook when CC and Splash were talking about how Peyton Manning runs a offense, and read the articles they posted.

http://smartfootball.blogspot.com/20…ay-levels.html

The concept is simple: the outside receiver runs a five-yard in route, and the slot receiver or tight-end runs a ten-to-twelve yard square-in (with a slight outside release). On the backside, the Colts have the outside guy run a take-off (or sometimes a comeback at eighteen yards) and the backside slot or tight-end runs a “divide” or seam-read. As explained previously, the divide route involves a read by the receiver: against single-high defenses like Cover 3 (also known as middle of the field closed), the receiver keeps it up the hashmark in the open void in the seam; against middle of the field open defenses (like Cover 2), he will break on a post route into the open void in the middle.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/…denver-broncos

“I can give [you] the playbook,” said former Manning backup quarterback Jim Sorgi in 2010, Manning’s last full season in Indianapolis. “There is not that many teams they’re going to play who don’t know what they’re going to do. It’s all about execution. Their coaches are like, ‘We’ll tell the other team what we’re doing. They got to stop us.’ That’s what they do. That’s what they’re all about. And not many teams have been able to stop them yet.”

I tried to mimic best i could how Peyton would do it. Though the video im posting isnt the best example (was getting dt blitz to death), i do mix it up more then shown.

Set Audibles:

SB Dice Slot – Stretch
SB Deuce Slot – Levels Divide
SG Dice Slot – HB Draw
SG Dice Slot – Drag Under
SB Trips Bronco – Smash (can switch this out with something else, i dont use it much)

Preset Audibles i like..

SB Dice/Deuce slot – (quickpass), X Under, (run) HB Dive Weak

Base Plays – SB Dice/Duece Slot – HB Draw, HB Cutback, Slot Post. SG Dice Slot – HB Angle, FL Screen

notable plays ill use from time to time:

SB Trips Bronce – Double China, DLB Ins. SB Deuce/Dice Slot – Slot Cross

Anyways, here is the video below. Please feel free to add your spin or take on it. Ill add a better video later on, that shows more of the scheme.

This is a online CCM game (highlights), The SML. I used the Denver Playbook on O and 43 Book on D. Im the Bears going up against the BUCS.

Comment below if this is a scheme you think you will use in Madden 25!

RDikes: How to Run the Jet Heavy in Madden NFL 13

Sup, guys. I released the style video to the Jet Heavy a couple of days ago. I have been running Jet Heavy for a while now, and there are a lot of different styles to it. I’m covering the first style in the video below. Using this particular audibles/depth chart you’re able to get home run hits with Joe Webb and able to get yards when needed. Other teams I like are the Redskins, Seahawks, 49ers, Panthers, and Jets. I would say all these teams apply to all three schemes coming out, but I like the team presented best for that certain scheme. Thanks for watching – hope you guys enjoy.

Base Play: QB Blast/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 1: Power FK Jet/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 2: PA Jet Sweep/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 3: Read Option/Shotgun/Trey Open
Audible 4: Counter Weak/Strong/Strong Close
Audible 5: Inside Zone/Singleback/Ace

Hey, guys. Here is the second scheme to the Jet Heavy. During this scheme I found a great balance that allowed you guys to run the ball with Morris effectively while still being able to spread the field, allowing Moss and Garcon to utilize their speed and allowing Morgan and Davis to body everyone up. I also found having RGIII’s legs was big time in escaping the coverage D looks and keeping defenses to really respect the QB runs and draws. Hope you guys enjoy.

Base Play: Power Fk Jet/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 1: Counter Weak/Strong/Strong Close
Audible 2: Power Fk Jet/Shotgun/Empty Trey
Audible 3: QB Blast/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 4: Y Trail/Singleback/Bunch
Audible 5: Jets Slot Post/Shotgun/Snugs

Here is the third and final scheme of the Jet Heavy. I put a lot of time in on the three schemes. I really hope they helped. This scheme focuses on a conventional offense and not coming out in Jet Heavy, but you are still able to utilize it as it has an audible. I like this offense to throw the ball, mixing in your Jet Heavy on short-yardage situations. If you guys have any questions don’t be afraid to ask.

Base Play: DBL Stop N Go’s/Shotgun/Double Flex Wing
Audible 1: Inside Zone/Singleback/Ace
Audible 2: Jets Switch/Shotgun/Bunch
Audible 3: QB Blast/Shotgun/Jet Heavy
Audible 4: Flex Jets Drive/Shotgun/Spread Y-Slot
Audible 5: Jets Slot Post/Shotgun/Snugs

Top 5 Teams in Madden NFL 25!

Top 5 Teams in Madden NFL 25

With all of the news surrounding Madden NFL 25, gamers are getting their hands ready to grab the game when it releases on August 27. While many gamers like to play with their favorite teams, others like to use the best team in the game. Here is a list of the Top 5 teams in our MaddenTips.com power rankings based on last year’s finishes and speculation of how Madden NFL 25 will play based on all of our insider information!

Honorable Mention: Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins

5. Minnesota Vikings. We already covered Adrian Peterson as our “#1 Player to Run Free with in Madden NFL 25”.

Adrian Peterson Madden 25 Rating

Strengths: Run Game, Clock Control

With the game taking a heavy focus on running the ball, you want to have the best possible player on your side. How many times have you hopped into an online game and matched up against someone who struggled to stop the run? Peterson is the guy that can make them pay. If you can manage QB Christian Ponder and mix in backup Joe Webb, the Vikings have a chance to stay on this list. The Vikings struggled at wideout in Madden NFL 13 but added super-reliable WR Greg Jennings to play outside. Although they lose Percy Harvin, they drafted another athlete in WR Cordarrelle Patterson. If he can pick up some of Harvin’s versatility, the Vikings will be in good shape for Madden NFL 25.

Pro Tip: Control the clock with the running game to make up for an average defense.

4. Baltimore Ravens

Strengths – Balance, Vertical Passing Game

Joe Flacco proved he was elite last season and led the Ravens to the Super Bowl title. He not only earned himself millions of dollars, but likely a boost in his Madden NFL 25 rating. Helping him out on offense will be one of the best all-around backs in the NFL, Ray Rice. Rice is a great weapon out of the backfield on screen passes and should have some of the best moves in the game. Make sure to use the precision move modifier to slow up and stay behind your blockers while the screen gets set up. The more you can get the defense to focus in on Rice, the easier it will be to use Flacco’s great arm strength to connect with WR Torrey Smith downfield. On defense, the Ravens have some new faces but should be much younger. If CB Lardarius Webb can recover from injury, he is a great leader who plays well against the run.

Pro Tip: The Ravens have great special teams, led by Jacoby Jones – try to get him into the open field and let his speed change games.

3. Green Bay Packers

Strengths – Passing Game, Defensive Hit Power

Aaron Rodgers is considered the best QB in the game by our standards. His ability to throw downfield consistently matches up with QBs like Brady and Manning; however, he has just enough speed to burn the defense. If your opponent likes to play heavy man coverage, look to break the pocket with Rodgers and scramble for a first down. Green Bay has always had a top-tier passing game, but this year they add in two rookie HBs in Eddie Lacy and Jonathan Franklin. Lacy will bring great balance on early downs with Franklin being a great change-of-pace back on 3rd down. On defense, Green Bay is loaded with talent at the LB position. When your opponent gets into a 3rd and long situation, unleash Clay Matthews and Nick Perry off the edge!

Pro Tip: Randall Cobb is a dynamic player not only in the return game, but also on WR screens.

2. Seattle Seahawks

Strengths – Defensive Depth, Power Run Game

Seattle went out this off-season and earned their spot on this list. They acquired WR Percy Harvin in a trade and also signed some key pieces for their defense. Gamers who like a power back will benefit from new moves like the stiff arm, which can be used to knock back defenders or string out runs depending on how it is used. In Madden NFL 25, a back like Marshawn Lynch can truly go beast mode, as he will have plenty of moves he can pull off! On defense, Seattle has tons of playmakers. Their secondary is known to catch everything, so be ready to run free on defense.

Pro Tip: QB Russell Wilson has the ability to get free with his legs. Test the defense early to make them commit defenders to spy the QB.

1. San Francisco 49ers

Strengths – Offensive Line, Run Game Balance, Defensive Front 7

The 49ers prove once again that defense is the most valuable thing in the Madden NFL series. They regain their top spot from last season, powered by the all-new Force Impact System. This is going to allow their talented LB corps to lay even more crushing hits than last season. For gamers who are fearing all of the new run-free moves, SF should be the ultimate counter! On the other side of the ball, the 49ers should have one of the most interesting playbooks in the game. QB Colin Kaepernick gives your offense an edge; he is able to either hand off or keep the ball for himself if the defense overcommits. For gamers who are looking to rack up wins, the 49ers are no doubt the best team in Madden NFL 25!

Pro Tip: Target WR Anquan Boldin in the red zone; he has a great ability to hang onto catches that are thrown into traffic.
