ZFarls will be hosting a special Virgin Gaming Tournament preview tonight (Wed., Feb. 6) at 8 EST! Make sure to tune in and find out all the details for Saturday’s event, which will be giving away $1 million in prizes. We will have Community Manager VG Carl on to fill us in on any items the fans are curious about!

ZFarls will give some tips for competing in live tournaments and what gamers should expect in Las Vegas on Saturday! They will take a look at the brackets and break down some huge potential matchups! ZFarls will also recap Madden Bowl and let you know which NFL stars had game in Madden NFL 13!

This Week in Madden: Show 90 Archive – TWIMMIES

ZFarls and SGibs bring you the Twimmies, Madden’s only live awards show. They also show off the EA SPORTS MVP Carbon Headset By Monster. They play two live Games of the Week: SGibs takes on Madden Tips community leader WayTooTuff on PS3, and ZFarls takes on DoubleJ on Xbox. Make sure to check out ZFarls’s crazy run with Ray Rice! To end the show, they give away a Jets scheme from Jet Heavy and show off some 3-4 run defense.

This Week in Madden – Show 90 TWIMMIES!

This Week in Madden (show 90) will be back on Wednesday at 8 ET with a special episode of tips and “The Twimmies,” which is the Madden Communities’ only awards show. ZFarls and a clean-shaven SGibs will be back live from Mt. Everest once again to hand out awards to the community. This year, the fans can vote on many of the categories below!

This Week in Madden – Show 89 Archive Is Live!

This Week in Madden (show 89) was packed with tips to improve your game! It all started with SGibs talking about his qualification for the VG Tournament and what people should expect in Vegas. ZFarls talked about his loss to Bronco, and although he wasn’t able to win a draw into any of the bonus tournaments, he will still be heading out to support Madden Tips members SGibs, Zan, Hollow, Crossover, Bronco, and more who made it to the challenge.

Next up was Madden Ultimate Team time, where ZFarls pulled 14 legendary packs and got some gems like Dick Night Train Lane, Michael Irvin, Joe Greene, Reggie White, and a bunch of purple playoff collection cards that he will now have to figure out what to do with. What now, MUT fans?

We then got into Madden Tips, like stopping the run from 4-3 Stack, busting out a Saints’ offensive scheme, talking Pats vs Broncos, and taking tons of your mailbag questions.

The GOTW ended up being a revenge match, where Wolfman got the call from the bullpen to try to take down ZFarls and not allow another comeback. SGibs took on Adam after a laggy start in a game vs RDikes. ZFarls then played a bonus match vs SLagcher that came down to the last play!

Mailbag Monday – Post Your Questions for TWIM Episode 89!

This Week in Madden – Show 88 was a special recorded Wednesday edition that gave you a free offensive scheme for the Houston Texans playbook and a free defensive scheme from the Miami Dolphins playbook (4-3 Under)!

SGibs also showed how to stop tournament-level concepts and later took on SDWhite in the GOTW, who ran these plays! Could SGibs lockup?

Congrats to Ryan Ali for sending in the winning setup chart from the video. JCoop came in second!

This Week in Madden returned with more live tips for Madden NFL 13! Show 87 broke down your questions live, including:

How to throw consistent comeback routes (with special guest host Darrell)

There were dual games of the week, with SGibs (Lions) taking on Shopmaster (Redskins) and Darrell (Saints) taking on BuffaloRob (Seahawks). The latter was a great battle with a solid comeback and some interesting end-of-game management! Check the archive to see who won these matchups!

TWIM 87 Mailbag! Returns Wednesday at 8 ET!

This Week in Madden show 87 will be LIVE on Wednesday January 2 to kick off the New Year! Hosts ZFarls and SGibs will be talking your questions live on the show. Make sure to leave your mailbag questions in the comments! SGibs will be also filling us in with details from the VG tournament and gives us a look into the schemes he faced!

In Game of the Week action, SGibs will be taking on EA SPORTS Game Changer Shopmaster on PS3. Shop has been a fan of the Skins since RG3 was Rex Grossman, so SGibs will need to have a mobile QB defense ready. ZFarls will narrate this one as the two titans go on the big screen toe to toe.

Madden NFL 13 Virgin Gaming Tournament Tips

Last night on TWIM 86 (archive coming soon), Madden Tips was able to start a tournament where the first 16 players to win two games got entered into a bracketed tourney, with the winner getting a seat in the Las Vegas finals AND a cool $500! We battled all night on TWIM and will keep you updated on the bracketed finals. We would like to thank Virgin Gaming for the chance to give away a free seat to our community and Prima Games for getting it all set up!

What are some key tips to playing tournament games?

Look for good matchups in the early rounds! SGibs played a heavy hitter like HHHBronco in the early round because he couldn’t find a matchup he wanted quickly. In the later rounds of tournaments, there will be great players everywhere, but early just try to get as many wins as you can against easier opponents.

Clock Management – With the first 16 players to win getting in, you want to finish as fast as possible!
On TWIM, we often try to score and run plays at the ends of games to keep things interesting, but in a tournament setting, you have to close out the win. Both of us lost a lead in one of our games last night, and even though we were careful with the ball, we still couldn’t close it out.

Make Adjustments – I was unable to adjust to seam routes to the TE last night, and it cost me the game. My setups were not fast enough with the connection, and I just didn’t do well enough to get the win in the last game. Need more work on PS3 here.

Make sure your playbook is set up! Even though I lucked out and won when I took the wrong offensive and defensive book, it was stupid. I was in a hurry with the tournament start time and was having some profile issues, so the plays I had just set 10 minutes before weren’t saved/loaded and I need to take a deep breath and double check.

Be ready to battle: Plays happened that will keep me up all night long: the Aldon Smith pick, the Rodgers fumble (I slid!), and the DB swatting on the Bishop pick will haunt me, but it was a fun battle, and I will keep you posted on the round of 16 tournament that is upcoming!
