Cedric Benson participated in his first preseason game last night for the Green Bay Packers. He did not disappoint, with 6 carries for 38 yards on the ground.
What does this mean for Madden NFL 13?
Benson brings to the table a reliable HB to close out games. His ability to run opponents over will help solidify the Packers as having the number one offense in Madden NFL 13.
James Starks, Brandon Saine, and Alex Green are all HBs who can “get it done,” but they aren’t the elite-style HB that can change the course of a game. Benson has the ability to take over games with his skill set and force opponents to game plan around him.
This is what your Green Bay Packers HB depth chart should look like in Madden NFL 13:

- Cedric Benson
- Brandon Saine
- Alex Green
You might be wondering why I place Starks ahead of Benson on the depth chart when I have been saying that Benson is the premiere HB in this offensive attack. It’s because of his catching ability out of the backfield. We like to use Starks in the early stages of the game to build up a lead. Once we get comfortable in the game we then switch over to Benson and grind out victories.

Also depends on your play style. If you have a pass first offense and require your HB to block, due to the exotic blitzes your opponent will throw at you, then Benson should be at the top of your depth chart.
I know IRL Benson is a much better pass blocker than Starks, and I would assume his stats will prove this in the game. With all the edge heat and A-gaps I run into, Benson may be my primary HB. With Starks/Saine thrown in for change of pace and speed off tackle.

depending on people. gibs has been up 21 on me and ive busted a long run with benson.
I agree with a consistent run game.
He will get you tough yards.
I just wont game plan for him.
Then if your opponent gets a large lead, Benson is a non factor.

There shouldn´t be a big madden impact cause benson is similar to grant, truck (not elite), and no elite speed or catch rating.
So the 13 madden packers will be similar as madden 12 packers.
The Cincy/GB game was a stampede for GB.
Rodgers looked straight out of a madden game.

Saints Offense is sick.
- Sproles, Gresham, Brees, Coleston and a huge, highly rated OL.
- Green Bay is a close second. They dont have the OL but have a CRAZY Defense!

Starks is great for passing situations but they didnt have a reliable runner last year. This hurt htem IMO.
With the addition of Benson he gives thema guy you can give the rock to and pound out the clock.
I love what he brings to the table for their offense this year.
This MIGHT put them over the Saints for the Best O in the game
Benson should be in the Free Agent list.
You can check his attributes which i imagine are better than Starks.
Also 6 rushes for 38 yds vs 2nd and 3rd team scrubs late in preseason game is
really a non factor. (Not sure what qtr he played)

Benson was not a back i worried about in 2012 game. If a guy had CJ, AP, MJD or J. Charles then a crapped my pants.
