Coin Toss – NFL Celebration FAIL: Gronk or Vernon Davis?

On Sunday, both Rob Gronkowski and Vernon Davis executed great plays for TDs that helped their teams win! It wasn’t until after the play that their struggles began: Both were unable to pull off their celebrations — whose fail do you think was the worst?

Gronk lost the ball on his legendary spike move.

Vernon Davis was rejected by the goal post!

Worse Celebration?

  1. Easily Vernon Davis. Why? Gronk’s was a simple slip of the hand. It could have happened to anyone. Football spike is not a skill thing. Dunk over the uprights is a skill thing. If you don’t have the hops to execute the slam dunk on the upright (at least not at that moment), don’t do it. You look like a fool.

Take Gonzo’s dunk earlier in the day. When he was asked about it, he specifically said he had thought about it beforehand and decided that if he was feeling up for it, he’d do it, but if he had doubts he wouldn’t try. That’s the difference between a seasoned vet and an up-&-coming star.

    Final Answer: Vernon Davis.

  2. Vernon didn’t fail – it was a shout out to Akers showing where he hit the crossbar on the 63 yarder! Seriously, a huge day for the Niners and hopefully some major ratings love in the next roster update.
