Coach Sean Payton, head coach of the New Orleans saints had very few words for the press in regards to the upcoming season. all he really cared to comment on was this
"Keep an eye on you're saints this year, we have two premiere running
backs, an invaluable field manager, some recievers we can expect
great things out of, and a whole lot of heart."
With this cryptic message of optimism Louisiana sits back in anticipation for the upcoming preaseason
This chise is run on madden 08 for the xbox 360 on the all pro difficulty, sliders at default

At Quarterback!
Drew Brees

Great things are expected this year from Brees, he is said to have Peyton Manning's touch with Tom Brady's awareness and intelligence. With a little work on pocket presence we should see Brees truly come into his own as a quarterback
At Half Back
Reggie Bush & Deuce Mcallister

This should be quite the One-Two Punch combination! Early polls predict over a thousand each!
Not if Drew has anything to say about it !
These three players, newly elected team captains will be expected to be a staple point
in the Saints season. Things are looking great as they await their preseason opener to the Bills

The Saints were blessed today having negotiated a four year contract with MLB veteran Al Wilson for 20 million and a 5 million dollar signing bonus. With this new addition at linebacker the Saint's hopes for stopping the run feel a much more manageable feat. Al had this to say
"It is a great opportunity and privelage to be a part of the New Orleans Staints for
the upcoming season. I'll do my best to destroy the run and bring you fans
some W's"
Thats not all, the defense also recieved a wonderfal addition in its secondary in Donovan Darius who is also signed to a four year deal with 10 million with a 1million dollar signing bonus, a veteran like this is a steal. The defense is recieving improvements all around! Darius made a comment saying
"Im excited to continue my carreer with the Saints and plan on taking this
secondary to a level its never been before.
Strong words from some strong athletes, but can they live up the hype? We sure do down here in New Orleans, give us something to cheer for boys!

Week One
Saints 37 Bills 24
Week Two
Saints 21 Bengals 49
Week Three
Saints 38 Chiefs 20
Week Four
Saints 31 Dolphins 31
A mixed feeling at the end of this preseason 2-1-1. Hopes are still running high that the defense can prevent teams from putting up the numbers the bengals did. Brees had a respectable start 37-53 for 381 yards 4 TDs with only one interception and a QB rating of 107.5 A feeling of surprise strikes New Orleans as Deuce Mcallister steals the starting spot from Reggie Bush. Deuce ran for 480 yards with 5 TDs on 64 carries averaging 7.5 yards a carry and 120 yards a game! hard to compete with. Bush ran the ball well rushing for 359 yards with 2 TDs on 59 attempts averaging 6 yards per carry and 90 yards / game. This power pack duo is certainly going to be difficult for defenses to keep up with. Defensively Al Wilson does not seem to be living up to his paycheck recording only ten tackles in the entire preseason. Tensions run high as the Saints prepare for their season opener vs. the Colts

Week 1 Saints at Colts
Tensions running high before the game head coach Sean Payton decided to remain silent, for he believed it'd be his captains that would say it best. And they did, the Saints came out of the locker room fired up and ready led by Drew Brees, Deuce Mcallister, and Reggie Bush.
The game started out well, the defense did their part stalling the Colt's opening drive in the red zone which ended on third down when Peyton Manning was brutally sacked by starting right end Will Smith who recorded 6 tackles on the day 3 for a loss including his sack. Settling for the field goal the Colts go up a quick 3-0
With the ball in their hands for the first time the Saints turned to half-back Deuce Mcallister to pound it up the middle. Successful at first the fans were horrified to see Deuce being helped off the field stalling the drive, forcing a punt
first drive deuce hurt
The defense pulls a big one! Peyton Manning is picked off by Josh Bullocks at the fifty giving the Saints a chance to capitalize and take the lead. To the fans' delight Deuce Mcallister was back on the field ready for the next drive which ended in a Drew Brees pick in the red zone. Drew suffered today going 21-36 for 332 yards with 2 TDs and 2 picks and a QB rating of 84.5 Drew made a comment to the press claiming it was the excitement getting the best of him. We hope to see better performance from him in the up coming games.
Things are looking grim going into half, after another quick Reggie Wade score and 30 seconds left in the half we are looking at a 17-0 lead but a Hail Mary to Devery Henderson before half gives the Saints something to work with going into half 17-7
The Saints stall at first coming out in the second half and go three and out on the opening drive. The Colts take advantage of this netting another field goal after a long drive extending the lead to 16. Brees connects with henderson one more time for a quick 55 yard score down the sideline bringing the Saints back in it 14-20. Late in the 3rd Manning is looking for Wade deep and this time is picked up by Donovin Darius the late free agent sign that is really paying off! Giving the Saints their first lead going into the 4th 21-20
The fourth quarter was a rough one. Unable to keep the momentum the Saints offense remained incapable of putting up any points and lets the game slip between their fingers 26-21 after two more field goals.
The team was upset with their loss but did not seem discouraged, and looks like they will come back hard next week. Head Coach Sean Payton would not address the press after the game, as well as his players. It will be up to us to find out next week whether or not this team can still have a dream season
