I've been noticing lately that some teams do seem to play a defensive style similar to their real life counterparts. For example I played West Virginia and they were pretty much in the 3-3-5 Stack defense for seemingly every snap. Air Force also played the 3-3-5 all game long. Missouri for example played a 4-2-5. I'm going to test this out with other teams as well. The cool part about the dynasty is that you can select a certain style of play for your team such as Spread offense and 4-3 defense. The interesting thing though is checking out some of the default systems listed for other teams. West Virginia is listed as a Spread Offense and 3-3-5 defense and they do seem to play that way even in the Play Now mode.

In real life Wvu runs a base 3-3-5 defense so that's probably the reason.

So in real life UTEP plays a 4-2-5 defense primarily. I get beaten everytime I use that formation

The teams that I know of that run the 3-3-5 defense are Memphis, WVU, Tulsa, BYU, UNLV, New Mexico, Air Force, Navy, and La Tech. Southern Miss also plays quite a bit of the 3-3-5, but they mix it in with the 4-3 and the 4-2-5. They have a position they call "Bandit" which is a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker player that can play up in a two point stance or down in a three point stance. Watching them gave me some of the ideas I had for the filmroom writeups that turns a 40 front into a 30 front.

bomber you should do a write up or post on base defensive strategies for particular types of rosters, such as what each formation needs in order to succeed, light in the lb's use this type, fast lb's and good db's try this formation, that could either be a thread or a complete filmroom breakdown unless you are already offering something like that in the playbook

That's a good idea. I may do something like that for the Mad Bomber's Corner section. The virtual playbook is actually dealing with more strategy this year.
