I've been away from the online football gaming scene for a bit. What is double-glitching and is there any way to avoid it?

Thanks Bigs I feel better now that someone knows the truth. Really, I dont like showboaters but he deserved!
As for the question on how to stop. I wish I knew how to do something to counter it.

the only way I have found to counter it doesn't work all the time. Last year, when the game "shook" and stuttered you knew someone was trying to glitch. To prtevent it I opened my DVD tray on the console for about 30 seconds. Usually when I cinqued back up I could finish my game against the computer. I would still get the win, but alot of the times the game was not on the other guy's record at all.

In my opinion, thinking of countering these glitches will only fan the fire. It will just promote glitching, more and more glichting. Since there are no prize given to the no.1 ranked player, I think we just need to enjoy the game. What I do is if I am glitched (not that I have this year) I move on and look for a next game, somewhere in the virtual world you will find an opponent that will not glitch, will take the loss etc.etc. and both of you will have fun. That is just my opinion. ;)

I think, thats think, if everyone knew how to counter glitchers from quitting, they would think twice B4 doing it.
Look at it this way, if he tries to glitch you, and you counter it, he gets the loss and he couldnt glitch you, YOU GOT HIM TWICE!

Well let me put it this way then, thinking or doing whatever it may be I just dont see the point. Say you counter them, NOW WHAT? you did not get the loss? now another guy "player b" has another glitch and moments later you got a disc because you dont know how to counter the glitch he did to you, then you got a disc. then you are mad, for what?
My point is this is a video game and I have been reading posts here in this board for months now and I know those people who are "true ballers", they dont even talk about this, they move on and ball and have fun. Glitching will go on forever because there are people out there who just cant live without it and they do their best to look for it. As a baller all you want is to have fun and play the game you wanted, regardless of whatever they have for you glitch wise.
With that all said, if countering glitch is what makes you happy then go ahead and do it. Peace!

Ok let me pull my thumb out of my *** now and move on, I get the point.
I just hated it because it was in a 4 man tourney and it was the final game, and if you win a tourney you get one of them damn little trophys by your name.

TN,
I hate to bring up old wounds, but could you describe what happened when you got glitched?? And do you think it could have been a freak disconnect??
I agree with Raiders in that this is a game, we're not being paid to do this. Oh how I wish we were being paid. But alas we're not.
My theory is that a beta tester or one of EA's game tester is telling his buddies how to do these glitches that they discovered *and didn't tell EA about* and avoid getting a loss.
I also agree with both TrojanNole and Raiders. I agree that we should just move on and play someone else. However I also agree that there should be a way to counter said things.
Look at it like this Raiders, Some guy is trying his best to trash talk you into a game, you bite and accept his challenge. During the game this guy is always celebrating on you and otherwise being an ***. You dig in and find a way to counter his tactics and now you have taken a comanding lead. Well the other person decides that he wants no part of you anymore, and instead of doing the manly thing and asking for a mercy quit, he decides to glitch you and thus cheats you twice. (1) He avoids getting a loss that he asked for and (2) he sticks you with a loss that you didn't deserve and makes your DNF% go up making it seem to others that you my friend are a quitter.
Me personally, if my opponent is showing respect the whole game and we "mysteriously" lose connection, I just chalk it up and move on. However if I'm playing some retarded fool who refuses to punt, and is talking trash the entire game; and I'm winning, you're darn right I want him to take his loss.

What is a double glitch? I thought no1 gets the loss from a glitch?

Basically, what happened is he got the ball back and started to the line of scrimmage and the game froze for about 1 or 2 minutes and we got a window that said we lost connection and click to end the game. No options to continue, nothing.
My record was 6-0, then it went to 6-1, and he HAD NO LOSS RECORDED!
One, he showboated the whole game, ran no huddle over and over and overall just a butt about everything. I dont mind the showboating and no huddle but come on, you know.
We never had any connection problems til that happened, none.

Positive, the dude just logged off and dissappeared. A buddy of mine said he saw him later but he would never answer him about our game. After checking his stats he had a 40% disconnect rate. There u go.

There r 3 type of glitches that I know of here they r.
-Audible glitch- This was done in 04 this way. Ur opponent calls a ply then when u go to the formation he pauses the game. Once back into the game the game suddenly disconnects. Or he does no huddle, then pauses. Same thing happens. U have gotten Audible glitched.
How to stop it: It shouldn't b much of a problem, bcause of the limited pauses that u are allowed to make. But if someone selects a ply and pauses b4 the ply is enacted. U must blow a timeout. Then u have to pause at the ply select screen to stop this manuever. Once again. I don't know how this pause will b enacted bcause of the pause limitations.
-Roster Glitch- This is similar to the audible glitch. It causes the game to end, and neither one of u can finish it. What u do for this glitch to b enacted is to pause the game at any time. Try to sub ur opponents plyers. It will tell u it is an illegal act. Once u go on the field, it will suddenly disconnect.
How to stop this type of glitch. Whenever someone pauses, u just go to ur team and sub anyone. This will stop the glitch automatically. Now if u remember about the audible glitch. If he pauses on the field u must not only sub a plyer, but u must call time out also.
Double win glitch- This glitch is done in two ways.
1) u can open ur tray door for a couple of seconds and close it back. this will cause ur game to disconnect, but u and ur opponent would b able to complete the game and get credit.
2) the second way is to pull ur ethernet cord out for a couple of seconds, and put it back in. this will result in the same outcome.
Why u may get an 0-2.
When the double win is performed, the server sends a test to ur PS2 to check to c if u r still connected. If ur system does not respond, it will b hit with the 0-2 penalty.
Some of the ISP have routers on their network. This prevents infection of computer viruses. what this does is make the cpu invisible to the outside network. But this is also detrimental for online ply. Bcause ur ISP has a router, when u r doubled, u r view as invisible to the EA server. Therefore if they send ur system the test, it will come back as n/a. Bang u get the 0-2.
U really have to know the plyers u r involved with. There r many fake gamers out there, that will do any of these maneuvers to escape losing. that is what they r trying to do. Hope this has been helpful

I agree with Farmer, usually its the complete a$$es who act like jerks that you really want to hang a loss on.
Even worse, the guys rated high who you have down and will win, and then glitch you.

Wow, thanks for the explanation AWN, I did not realize their was more than one way to do it. I can't believe people would go to that level just for a win,

kbell,
Either you have never run into these types of players, or you have not played very many games online.
Either way you're very lucky. ;)
But like I've said, it's the A$$holes that you want to make sure get pinned with the loss. I know it sucks to lose, but that's a part of the game. There have been times where nothing I did worked, for every positive there was 5 negatives; and God knows there have been times where I got my hat handed to me so bad that I wanted to quit/ glitch or whatever. But you know what? I stop and think about the game that I had where I could do no wrong, the game where every decision worked in my favor, every play call was the right call; no turn overs, no penalties, and I just think to myself that we were both just due for one of those types of games.
I know that last statement may have shocked some of you all, but I'm human, and would be lying to you all if I said I liked losing.
Thing is I take my losses and move on to the next game.

NO ONE post this message that AWN did for us anywhere else please. We dont want more people learning how to glitch. The purpose of this thread is to learn how to counter glitchers.
AWN, Thanks for the information, I have been thinking about it and have decided to look at it this way.
If someone is going to take the time to glitch me, then I will take the time to do everything I can to stop and disrespect him just like he's trying to do to me.
I'd rather be doing something, than sitting there looking a freezed up screen.

I have been glitched several times, but this one really got to me. I had to fight though a whole tournament that took me over 4 hours to play. Having to wait for people to show and all, get to the end, and only to be glitched.
I have been beated real bad, but I never quit on no one. I sucked it up and kept trying down to the last second. I was beated once by 76 points.
I told the guy I wouldnt quit if he would be mericful on me and try to run the clock down or punt the ball back to me on first if he got the ball back.
I just about good sportsmanship, me and AWN did this last night, he was have controller problems and I was head and he wanted a friendly quit and I agreed. I dont want a win that bad and AWN was having serious problems on his side and want to try to help him out with the new learning curve of 05.

I did not play to much online last year, once in a while, but I learned different things from people I play, Getting Awn was a big help to me. I still have yet to develope my passing game, but last night I played two games online. The first one I won 27-0, then 3-0 The first game I was Penn St. at home against Michigan, the second game I was Texas at Ohio St.- tough place to play - haha. My running game is almost where I want it to be, I just have to pracitice passing plays with the formations I use. I did get glitced last year a couple of times, the screen goes black and starts to shake.
