Instant classic!!!! I thought Margarito would wear him down and he did, but I was impressed with Cotto's boxing skills. Margarito was relentless, and I can see why no one wants to fight him. Cotto got beat up in this fight, it'll be interesting to see what's next for him even though he's only 27.

Margarito is walking, punching, cardio and just wore Cotto down. Took him to deep water and drowned him.

I really dislike Jim Lampley; he was so "pro Cotto" during the fight and he damn near cried when HBO put together footage of the stoppage. Geez!!!
OK... I take that last part back, seems as though Jim was extra emotional because the gentleman that usually takes the camera shots is ailing, him mentioning that got the best of him.

you got that right... that must be demoralizing; you have a guy coming at you all night long and you're landing shots, but he just keeps coming and coming.

Lampley was tearing up I didnt see any reason to put that footage together.. Cotto is still nice just bit off more than he could chew this time..

lol. my boy was like "lampley is on drugs". I said "that might be true, but i think his eyes are watering because Cotto lost".
I won over $2000 dollars tonight making bets on the fight after round 2. All on bets after the 2nd round..Heres why...
Cotto looked good boxing Margarito. He was winning. BUT anyone who has seen at least 2 Cotto fights knows Cotto doesnt win fights by backing up and boxing. Cotto showed that he was good at it, but my money was on the fact that Cotto didnt have the stamina to do that style 12 rounds. Sure enough, Cotto kept at the same game plan but ran outta gas in round 6.
Cotto NEVER hurt Margarito in this fight. You cant hurt a boxer like Margarito fighting backwards.
Cotto should have switched tactics after 5 rounds and went back to his move forward style....meet and bully Margarito in the middle of the ring. That never happened and that was where i made my money.
Cotto's problem was that he probably saw Paul Williams beat Margarito by boxing and lateral movement. Paul Williams can do that for 12 rounds, Cotto cant.
IMO Margarito fights De La Hoya for big money, then fights Cotto or Paul Williams for "legend" status.

Like i said inthe other thread...this guy is thr Mexican Rocky. He was getting hit with some good shots and walked through all of them and then got his guy in the end. Great fight.

This is one of the reasons some boxers cry foul with the ring announcers and frankly, Larry Merchant isn't any different.

I forgot all about this one. Was it on PPV? I'd hate to think I missed one this good if it wasn't. I had a feeling Cotto wasn't going to win this one.

Cotto is HBO's guy so the HBO announcers are going to be pro-Cotto. But lol was he really tearing up?:D

There were actually 6 people at my dad's house for the PPV event. Because of the dying interest in boxing of late, it was the biggest crowd he has had for a boxing event since Tyson and Lewis (2002). I missed the fight because it was my mother's birthday and she hates boxing so I took her out to the local pub to celebrate.
Anyway, does anyone know when this fight will be available on Demand? I just checked and it isn't there.

Damn Rank how did you miss it? Margarito is scary good  and just keeps moving forward.
Also quick golf question. You remember my Calloway 460 thread? What is the big difference between that club and say a knock-off 460 at Wal Mart for $30bucks?
