Can anyone help me out with this formation??? Routes to look for, plays, etc. I heard Bomber say that this was one of his favorite formations, so its got to have some good stuff in it.

I've started using it alot this year. In NCAA 2004 the plays within that formation left a lot to be desired in my opinion. This time around they've added some new routes and plays. When I use this formation, my first thought is to get the ball out quickly. When you use any type of empty backfield formation guys will usually look to bring pressure with a blitz or zone blitz. Look to use the crossing routes over the middle. So far my favorite routes to use are the dig routes. You'll need other receivers running short to draw the attention of the middle underneath coverage.

I dont know any plays off the top of my head, but it is very useful in spreding the field horizontally and vertically. Most of the plays seemed really good and the 5 receivers makes reading the defense easier I think. Personally, I tried this formation and used it to spread the field horizonatlly with great results. The only problem is that the the defense can cheat a little b/c the only running plays are from the QB. This is fine if you have a scrambler. Overall it seems like it has a lot of promise.

2k4 I had a great deal of success with this formation and also mixing it with ACE-NOBACK
So far in 2k5,I've mainly focused on my run and shoot offense but I did have a chance to tinker with this formation.
Basically I found that I could still sit in the Hail mary 5 wide and "hot route" to individual routes creating create horizonal stretch. Deep Attack is also another favorite I focus on the left side usually "hoting" the outside wr to an out or hook, and then hoting the inside wr to streak, to the right I still have crossing wr to hit if the out isn't there. The crossing routes have always been good to me but I also love the smash route because it creates an easy high low read (although the 2k5 super corners somehow manage to cover both)
In the 2k4 you could really ding the defense if they didn't cover ALL of your WR's by audibling to the ace-noback/double bubble screen play, 2k5 this route is called flares (I think) and while it still works the defense in 2k5 is really jumping any routes that go to the outside, so if the inside or the outside defender jump on the flair you have to hit the outside wr on his slant route.
Using the ACE-Noback allows you to mix in some other runs too like the options, still if your qb is a plodder it can be difficult to pick up yards running the ball.

I'm looking forward to reading your posts on some of your run & shoot concepts.

Bomber,
I'm writing down some notes on how I'm using the run and shoot this year since a number of new possibilities exist(the return of the slide route! fun with speed option) and I'll try to get something in the threads by next week!
I'd also like to include a little history and a bibliography for anybody who wants to go bonkers over it like me

That would be great.

I use an option based offense, but when it come to passing (especially in hurry up situations) the Shotgun 5-wide is the way to go.
Using your depth chart, make sure you have your fastest receivers on the far outs. This is easy as your #1 receiver will be on the left and #2 receiver will be on the right.
Now use any play in the SG 5-wide. Simply adjust your receiver routes with the hot route option (triangle button on PS2, before the snap). Send your #1 and #2 receivers striaght up. Try to use plays with lots of slants and/or posts, so if one of your far wide guys don't get open, you have an alternative underneath play.
P.S. works best if you have a scrambler type QB to escape the blitz.
