I cannot be the only one in this particular age group who grew up thinking these guys were the greatest thing since a Redskins Super Bowl victory:D

Who has listened to this new CD? I have several times now and the reports of Metallica's demise were very, very premature. This CD rocks harder than anything since And Justice For All. It is every bit as good as the Black album, better than Load, better than Reload, and infintely better than whatever the hell St. Anger was.

So, if anyone else 30+ are Metallica fans, let's hear what you think of this new CD....that is if you are not jamming out to it on GH3 already:cool:

I think it's a Great CD (Unforgiven III & The Judas Kiss not withstanding). My finger tips have developed major callasis(sp?) from playing GH3 all weekend. I agree that this is far and away their best since the Justice album.

I am a huge Metallica head and this album impressed the hell out of me. I have my tickets for Nassau Coliseum show in early February. The CD came with the tickets as well. GIMME FUEL GIMME FIYAH!

I had the album a week in advance...

Gotta say this is the link between master and the black album.

Very good. :D

Alot of the songs were just ok though some of them are growing on me. There's about 2-3 songs I really like (TWYL and TDTNC) and I really hate Cyanide.

Just saw the youtube vid of them performing Orion in 2006. It was the first time they performed the song live in about 20 years. It damn near brought a tear to my eye.

I think it's more the link between Justice and Black.

Its got so much Justice Feel (the harmonized leads and the chugs) but with a Black Album touch, Ballady type songs.

I can not stop listening to this disc. I was in a Metallica Cover Band in High School, and I was talking to one of the guys I'm still friendly with. We decided that its for the better this came out now that we are adults or we wouldn't have gone to school. We would have just jammed on this all day!

Thank you Metallica.

PS: I think I want to write Rick Rubin a thank you card.

Yeah, I listened to it about 3 times yesterday driving to Santa barbara and it really is a phenomenal disc. Unlike Gymbo, I happen to think Judas Kiss is just an 8 minute sledgehammer of heavy rock. I can see where many would not be into Unforgiven III, but even that grows on you after a while.

I also have heard rumors that if you download the album for GHIII, it actually sounds better than on the CD. Something to do with the way the CD is compressed. But, for you Guitar Hero fans like me, you may want to give it a try and see if there is any truth to that.

I must admit I'm starting to come around on Judas.

I agree on the Link between those 2 albums, I love the Music, But the album should have been heard by the band first, before they made the final print, When the record company received it, the final master wasnt done much, if at all, some of the Vocals by James are way out of key , or brought to the front mix too much, and made for a horrible Vocal, Im sure the Band had a Stroke when they heard what was released...Listen to the difference in the vocals on Guitar hero, and then the mix on the CD, GH mixed it better than the Final Cut was....Sad but True, Pun Intended...And its more than that song, but outside that major flaw on vocals on some tracks, the Music is awesome...
I know I would be livid , if I was james, and Im sure he is...But they went right on tour over Sea' s before hearing the final Mix. It was well produced other wise, outside of that.

I have this for GHIII/GHWT (forward compatible when it comes out) and I couldn't put my finger on it but it kinda did sound better in the game. I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

That said, the songs are very fun to play in the game. I would recommend it to those who play the music games and plan on getting GHWT.

It sounds better on the game to me as well. I still hope their coming out with Guitar Hero:Metallica next year.

Only if we are able to export the songs into GHWT and thus playable on the four instruments. Otherwise, I may not bite.

Well, I would think that it would be compatible, but who knows. That'd be a blast.

I would be more inclined to think that it would just be a cash grab for Activision.

Remember the Toilet bowl with the Knife sticking out?
That was the best album!
