You can't call yourself a georgia fan if you don't mute out the sound come game time and turn Munson on. It's been a tradition for as long as I can remember.

For those of you that don't know, Munson has called GA games for the last 40 years. He had brain surgery over the summer (I think it was to remove a tumor, but I'm not 100% sure), and says that he just doesn't feel right when calling games. I wish him nothing but the best, but he will be SORELY missed by me............and anyone else that considers themselves a georgia fan.

Great guy. An SEC legend. I hope Larry enjoys his retirement.

legendary announcer...First-Class jerk.

the last time I saw him, he was on the treadmill next to me at the Y. a father had brought in his kid to meet the legend. the kid, walking with a cane and wearing his Goldberg UGA jersey, didn't deserve to be treated the way Mr. Munson treated him. you don't tell a kid to "take off that loser jersey...you know he got kicked off the team for smoking dope?" when the kid isn't even old enough to know what "dope" is.

Scott Howard is a better announcer anyway. he's made UGA basketball games listenable for years.

you have a point. but every single time I was ever around the guy, or knew anyone who had to deal with him, it wasn't a pleasant experience. to quote a friend at WSB: "John Rocker was more pleasant, and Dave Justice less of a prima donna." now that's bad.

I guess I will miss his daily "At The Movies" spot, though (it's an Athens thing).

dj, I still hope he makes one last appearance...maybe it could be the National Title game. I sort of feel bad for saying those things about him (and I have a few more stories as well, including what he said about Brice) but he was
a legend.

but I still maintain that Scott Howard is better, hope everyone gives him a chance. Zeier is good too.

Zeier is a class act. I've met the guy maybe three times, and each and every time he says "Hello, I'm Eric Zeier" (like I wouldn't know, especially when I'm standing in the Butts-Mehre Building, which is UGA's training facility).
he was a very underrated QB.

Hines was too. and Georgia fans used to boo the hell out of him. it really got to him, which is why he doesn't have anything to do with UGA anymore. (he used to always say "Hines Ward, College Park" during Monday Night Football intros instead of saying "Georgia"...I think he says Georgia now though).

THEY (I don't ever remember booing Hines) did boo the hell out of him, but I never understood why. The man played like 50,000 posistions for us and performed at every single one of them.
