Ok, i've been playing 08 and 09 and my friends uses the NE prowl defense a lot and I can't seem to figure out how to beat it. With all the LB's shifting he gets crazy pressure. How do you prevent that. Line shifts? but you guess wrong you are screwed. Is it using aggressive line shift? Anyone have success beating it?
thx

I used to use this D alot, i ran alot of zone coverages while in the redzone and blitz'ed out of this set, i could stop sweeps, screens quick slants, RC's and pretty much most things thrown at me, but my weakness with this D was the opponent who made adjustments and had patience. Since its only 1 Dline man, off tackle runs were money (especially with a power back). I would give up 3 yd runs, then 2 then 8 yds, and while depending on your gamestyle that might seem boring, if you have patience and make a defense get out their comfort zone by attacking a weakness, you force them to adjust, give them the same look and do a quick safe pass ( a screen/curl/flat route) if you can keep a D guessing or get them frustrated they tend to eventually fold ( in most cases not all) There will be some players who will keep their cool and play smart, but from time to time you might pressure someone to over-compensate on stopping one thing and by doing so their leaving something open for you to capitolize on.

Moss, thanks for the advice. I like to run so I will follow that. My only problem is when I need to pass the pressure the Prowl gets because it confuses the line is crazy. I guess I need quick routes and keep backs in to help block.
