you've gotta learn to run to your opponents weakness. if he has a solid d line, up the middle isn't where you wanna go especially with traps and counters. if he has fast linebackers outside isn't where you wanna go either cause they'll get there before you do

go into your depth chart and figure out where you strength lies (whether it be the left of the right side of the line) and run to your stregths. also, use the matchup stick at the los to see who's rattled and who's not (also handy for lookin to see how good players ratings are) and run there

try using lead blockers like running outta the i form normal set

hope this helps

Yep what DJwill13 said.... It is a lot tighter up the middle. you got to get some good block for success there. my best side of the line is behind Munoz LT. but my guard LG is a 76 still ok but a Soph so he can get rattled easy and gets blown back alot against good DLines. So sometime I am heading left to go behind Munoz and my LG gets knocked back into my path and the DT slides off and hits me.

Its tough running the option at times because the OL get pushed back into you too fast.

you need to hot route your blockers, know when to motion and if they are stacked to the side you are running to, hot route the flip option. I have been taking advantage of not using the speed burst going up the gut until I clear the defenders, also as I am going through the hole I have been using the high step option. Open field a juke sometimes works but is unpredictable, I have been using the spin move and stiff arm a lot more. I think what it comes down to in this years game you really need to be able to use all of the moves available and use them at the correct time
By the way, the high step and not pushing the speed burst button I picked up a couple of days ago from another thread so I'm sorry if I can't remember who posted it but it has really helped me alot and thanks

U may want to try to change ur view. Overhead gives a lot of benefits that people r not aware of... From the first time I plyed with it, I was hooked.... Give it a try....

I purchased the NCAA 2005 and I realized very quickly that you need to develop a running game because passing is way to difficult when you are the away team. I am working to improve my running game but im very inconsistent. How do you hot route your blockers when they may not respond if the crowd is screaming??

Try putting in Rob Smith, rating 80, at that position, since he's not starting at right guard. He'll do a better job.

I played Miami last night and my bread and butter is usually counters and options. That stuff was getting shut down big time so I started just running it up the middle out of I normal and had alot more success, seems like I canceled the pursuing speed and once they started trying to stop the middle the outside stuff was open. If you are getting shutdown wide go inside until they are over playing that area then start going outside
In essence if one area is impossible to run to switch it up and go somewhere else completely and usually you will have success

First of all no matter what you do sometimes you OL just gets blown up...nothing you can do there. Thats why its so important to use the match up stick and find weaknesses. But one of the things ive been doing to get my running game going is to use the Ace Normal formation it gives you 2 TE to work with. Then i like to run the dive, tackle, slam, counter trap, and also the option runs (if you have a good opt. QB). My favorite to start with and open up the other runs is the HB dive up the middle. Its a quick hand off and the hole varies on the DEF run it like a HB read there will almost always be a hole to get atleast 3-4 yards. I usually use Michigan and run with number 5 underwood hes a nice back but lacks brilliant speed. I average 130 yards a game with him using Ace normal almost exclusively. The key is to watch the LB and cut back if necessary.
