I didn't see the game but that caught my eye in the box score.

to prevent a late second punt from their end of the field (they were up by 7). instead they kicked off.

Because it ran clock off the board and instead of giving them 20+ seconds he gave them 8 seconds to go 50 yards with 1 second left.

Drew Brees is the number one quarterback in the league right now. Every game he is producing without any decent target, and without a run game.

Did you see the game? They showed a breakdown, he had like 6 guys with 3 receptions and anywhere between 20-70 yards at the time.

I was at the game... f*** yeh!

Great game, loved it! Been to both London games and this one was miles better... it had it all... TDs, runs, passes, controversy, challenges, recovered onside kicks, missed extra points, FGs, a safety, punts, and a Hail Mary!

Gotta love those Saints beating it out of those 3-5 Chargers hehe... playoffs, anyone?

Great game, great atmosphere, everything was great. worth it all day.

Well I hope I get tickets to the Pats coming to London, should they choose to come! Nevertheless, a great day that Buffalo lose, we win and push to get that division leadership!

+ Chelsea lost so excellent day for sports [Premier League soccer]

As for the safety there was 16s left and NO was punting. They didn't want to give them that much time where they couldve mustered a good return a possibly a TD, so Brees basically run back into the EZ, took as much time off the clock as possible, then "under pressure" threw it out of the back of the EZ.

*It was also said that he did it to prevent the possibility of a blocked punt and ensuing TD, impossible if there was a free kick post-safety.

A stupid decision should the Bolts have converted that safety punt into points, but guess not now NO wins.

How do folks in the UK like the NFL?

Charger's defense ****ing sucks. I hope they fire Ted Cottrel and promote Ron Rivera.

As soon as they hired Cotrell I knew they would suck. He was PATHETIC for the Vikings.

A lot, actually. When you consider 83000 at Wembley today, with 500,000 people registering in the game ballot within a couple hours, it does have a lot of popularity. There is still a lot of animosity between the whole Rugby-American Football thing but thats dying down because people are learning the rules and picking up the game more and more, realising theyre different sports. With more exposure to the sport, it can only get better, and with the NFL being as generous as it is to actually give Londoners the sport right on our doorstep, people here have taken up on that offer.

I think all of us here in the UK that love the NFL/AFootie are trying our best to get our friends and family into the sport, because the more of us there are, the better the sport becomes. That's how I did it - and as a result my entire family visited Foxboro over the summer and had a great time - The atmosphere is great and that I think is what is appreciated most - cheerleaders, hard hits, TDs, close victories in the last 2mins or blowouts, Tom Brady like headliners - its all welcome this side of the Atlantic!

Blader.

your secondary sucks, somehow. How can you have top CBs and still have that left side dominated? Damn that side was getting owned all day in the EZ. I wonder what the score could have been should NO have had Reggie Bush. He may not be as good as they thought he would be, nevertheless he's been on point these last few games.

They have been sucking it, but worst of all is the pass rush. If you can't generate a pass rush, your secondary is going to suck @ss. I know Merriman ain't there, but I still blame a lot of it on Ted Cottrel, dude dials up some really wack blitzes. He doesn't come up with exotic ***** like Wade Phillips would dial up, it's way too vanilla. He also calls a lot of BS zone coverage, when he did actually call more aggressive BNR man coverage, the Chargers were actually doing pretty good. Chargers are better at manning up.

ohhh ok that makes sense.

actually... it DOESN'T make sense. It was a terrible call. You are up by seven points... if they somehow return the punt for a TD or hit a 60 yard hail mary(or 20 30 yard prayers)... its still a tie game. if you take the safety and they run back the kick or hit the hail mary... you lose.

AS it is, sproles nearly broke one, and rivers gave them a shot with a hail mary getting into the endzone.

i mean its an easy choice - up 7 with 12-14 seconds left or up 5 with 8 or 10 seconds left. either way they have no timeouts.... and time for 1, maybe 2 plays
