I just played a game against a friend online and I blitzed him 48 times. I have read where people complain about guys blitzing every play, and was wondering what yall think about it. I have also had a couple of games where other dudes base D was 4-4 even if you came out in shotgun. which if you can eak out the time you can beat bad with a streak. I felt I had to blitz this much because he runs the kind of O that he will either bomb it deep to (insert favorite deep receiver here) , or scramble out of the backfeild with QB. So I figured contain the QB on runs. and pressure the QB on throws with the Blitz. I only used 4-3 and a few nickel plays.
I am not talking of analog blitz never tried it. just a default blitz 3 out of 4 downs maybe sometimes 4 out of 4 downs. I know you can get burnt with the blitz but some teams are know for their Agg Defense. I admit it worked pretty good. he only got one good scramble early. and he did not have the time to just drop back and hang out for his WR to finally break away and chuck it.
I am not trying to get flamed it the first game I played this way. I was just wondering if it was cheese???

I can usually overcome the repeat blitzes. You're leaving one on one coverage on the receivers. I just get rid of it quickly. Lob it to the receiver. Half the time it is a completion. Live by the blitz, die by the blitz. So, no, I don't think there is such thing as too aggressive defense. Its up to the offense to handle it or die trying.

I always bring heat, always. I try to mix it up from different defensive fronts, especially in this game(2005), and it's lack of deep coverage. If you don't you will get beat with the long ball. I will also leave everyone in coverage and make it look like I'm blitzing. I'm not one to just sit back and get picked apart, or have the QB scramble for 10 yards cause my guys drop into coverage.
I personally think that it is not cheese to blitz every play however using the AB is. JMO

My philosophy is very similar to yours. I bring heat early and try to get a sack on 1st or 2nd down. If you can get your opponent in a situation such as 2nd and 17 or 3rd and 17 you can switch up your defense to guard for the long ball because 90% of the guys will just start lobbing it up to an outside receiver.
On an offense driven video game such as this, getting one sack on an opponent early in his drive can be the difference in winning and losing in my opinion. Just think about how many times you punt in a game and why you got in that situation. Usually the answer is an early sack.

Blitz and blitz often. But I will mix it up. And like Hypocrite said getting a sack on 2nd down is a key at stopping your opponents drive. If I can turn a 2nd and 5 into a 3rd and 12 then that makes my decisons for what 3rd down coverage scheme I want to run easier. No matter what personell I have out on the field. Offline you can afford to be lax with the cpu, as they will rarely drop back 20-30 yards then chuck it, they will rarely just drop back then take off running with the QB. But online you have some fools who will do just that, no matter what down it is. So you gotta bring the heat and bring it often.
Just my opinion.

well in this situation, it helped to blitz often. he could not just hang out looking for the deep one to the outside left receiver. and on his scrambles he had nowhere to go.

BLITZ, BLITZ, BLITZ, AND I WILL BLITZ SOME MORE. Its has real as u can get. My Blitz percent is at 63% and I thought it would be higher since I bring someone usually all the time.

this year you have to bring the heat every down or its long ball city.

:) , You can't let them just pick you apart, so you need to always bring someone or else you will be burnt. I think the 48 times or whatever it was seems high in a game, yet if anyone applies heat it will add to that total so it's not like you went all out blitz on every play. You need to go to other formations then just a base 4-3 and nickel, add some wrinkles, maybe go 4-4 mad bomber and take control of the OLB and blitz him manually once and then choose the came formation and take more of a max zone and manually blitz someone else. The opponent spending time figuring you out means less time thinking of the right play to attack
Keep up the good work ;)

well Hobbs I just want to say thanks for your input. your are my Defensive Co. I was trying to get the upper hand on this player with zone alone. but with your input he did'nt have his reg game to fall back on. For now on I will prob always have at least one dude coming for the QB.
