How do you stop the corner route?

You have a couple options when trying you can call a 4-3 Cover 3, but the catch is you have to move your OLB's out more. Thus that you can cover it manually like I do...

Heat and have safeties playin zone or double that wr. But without extreme heat you could b in for a long game

If its a passing down for sure ... try Dime Zone Man X .... if they go to the Slot Post Corner make sure you've got man on him and there will be very little hope in collecting a 1st down vs that defense ... hope that helps.

guys who rely on the corner routes all the damn time suck.
I usually just cover them manually now.

All of u people seem yo hav D. I use the rams and their defense might as well not even show up at all. They actually watch the receiver catch the ball, like Mike Greenwell watching a playoff fastball pass right by him. then all of a sudden "once the receiver catches the ball that is" my defender decides to earn a check and tries to make the tackle

manual coverage is your best bet.

the user pick or user swat(which the CPU will do it for you eventough you dont press the swat button)

get your stick skills and you will your power rise

95% of shotty tight corner route passers will throw to the right side of the field even if it's the short side. You have to be really really good to throw to the left sucessfully over and over. Use nickel 3-3-5 cover three. You need to move your safety on the right in about 4 yards and over towards the sideline a little. Then take your right corner and move him closer the two receivers. Practice this and you'll see the safety almost always is in postion to knock pass away or pick.

No the problem is that in shotty tight you have a streaking hb running free down the middle of the field. What I do is manually control my fastest lineman and cover him past the point of the zone coverage. This play is almost impossible to stop. If you shut those two things down you opponent still has two short hook routes he can get 3-4 yards with each time. Keep in mind people will still complete some to the left hand side, but not nearly as many. If a guy runs this all game you better know how to do it just as well or you will lose PERIOD. All the Madden Challenge ballers will be using this all game again. It's so ridiculous but you knmow for thise cats.....winning at any cost is all that matters.

Use Man Under or Cover 2 and manually attack the ball when the QB throws it. Ah, playing loose coverage is best and will throw off the QB's timing.

Can't patch for PS2, its not a cpu. Why should they patch a route because you have trouble stopping it? Its not an unstoppable play, just requires a little tweeking on the defensive side.

Heres my suggestion. You play the same D to stop the corner routes eventually someone will see what you are doing. Mix your coverages. Man Cover 1(who cares what formation) and playmaker your CB to deep zone. For one. Those who read the safeties first will have a hard time recognizing its really a cover 2 because the safeties are splitting like they would in cover 1 and 3. Also the beauty of this game is you can still manually cover with a LB if you want. I especially like this when One likes to hit there TE. Cover him manuually until he breaks and then look at the corner route..

But ultimately, change your looks and your D will be stop people.
