I don't know if this was posted here before, but it's a good video that shows what went wrong and may clear up some stuff for some people here.

This was a really good way to describe the credit crisis in a way people can understand it. It is biased as is anything that deals with Wall Street because bankers are always painted in a negative light and homeowners as passive in the euqation (which isn't true) but if you back away from that (and some of the misrepresentations) it gives a easy to follow explanation of the issue.
