Good. If it were a guy throwing at obama...not only would he get that, he would be called racist then later hung in jail

Funny how the guy who threw shoes gets 3 years in jail while the war criminal he threw them at gets to live in a mansion in Texas.

Retarded sentence. Poor man. Bush should have stepped up to the plate and said that's too harsh or forget about punishment. Heck even 6 months is too harsh IMO. Dude deserves community service or a fine.
If it was any ordinary person, I doubt he would be serving 3 years. I say who gives a PHUCK who it is, a person is a person, whether one is a President, billionaire or not. In thinking like that, that's basically saying this person is greater or worth more, than this other person. The world ain't fair. :(
If a bum gets attacked with a flying shoe, I want the thrower to get 3 years too then. That way it teaches society a lesson that ALL people are worth the same.

lol soooo the guy in YOUR STORY (in your imagination) was a different race and nationality, than the guy in REAL LIFE who the thread is about.
Ahh gotcha. Were there any genies or goblins in your story because the real story seems kinda bland?

First of all, let me agree with the Bush statement. He is a coward who sent our boys over there to be killed for nothing.I
take that back it was for something, he wanted oil and Saddam was
in the way. He is a sorry excuse for a person with dollar signs bouncing in his head.
Next, if you ask me bout the shoe deal, the guy got off easy. To fully understand the concept you have to look at the way these people live their lives. In Iraq it is a insult to show someone the bottom of your shoe or the bottom of your feet. They are considered the dirtiest part of your body and disrespectful to show them. If Saddam was still alive this guy would prolly be dead by now. I know he sentenced a man to life for the very same
reason. We are talkin about a country whose leader gased his own
people with mustard gas. They are still having birth defects and
other health issues because of that. That is why I say he got off
easy.
These people think that our way of life is crazy. It is all in how you look at it. To us yeah throwing a shoe at someone and getting 3 yrs for it sounds crazy, but to them it is a justifiable sentence. I dont agree with it but I dont live in that country and dont think the way they do. I wish he would not have missed with the shoe. That would have been one for the ages.
Prolly would have been in the youtube hall of fame.(if there is such a thing)
He should have gotten the sentence cause this is the way of life over there. Over here if you throw a shoe at someone , you will prolly get your azz tuned up by someone. That is over here not over there. All I am sayin is people need to start looking at the whole picture , instead of just the frame. Especially when we are talking about a whole different country and lifestyles and morales. That is my thoughts on it. If you dont agree you just dont.

I actually am on the opposite side of you guys. You simply cannot behave that way against a foreign dignitary whether you like the guy or not. He's a guest in your country, and the President of another. He deserves a bit of respect. If you wanted to protest in some manner - don't attend the press conference and stand outside.
There's no room for that kind of behavior on either side by any party. It looks like an example was made, and I bet this guys shoes stay on his feet for awhile.

I think it's fitting given he attacked a country while pretending they were a legitimate threat in order to install a favourable government.

I completely agree that he should have been punished. I also acknowledge that punishment over there is very different than in North America. However, I do still think it is too severe.

Well, to be honest I cannot speak on the current condition of Iraqi jail. However if he is livin better in jail than on the outside that just speaks more to the "system" rather than the crime vs the punishment. We have a similar system here, so what it sounds like your really saying is that you agree you just want him to do HARDER time. :p

When I think of war crimes... mustard gas... napalm.... genocide... holocost come to mind.
If anything... the solders that are sent over there are forced to go above and beyond what the geneva convention set as the paramiters of a war and that is part of why they are getting killed so easily.
His reasons for war may be self centered and stupid but again.. IMO... it falls short of a war crime.

I guess it depends on how many Iraqi Civilians have/will die as a result of the War. It also depends on how an innocent Iraqi's life is valued. Maybe less than human for some? Hmm I wonder. but but there just collateral damage.

But of course the sentence is fair. You can't have people lining up to throw shoes at foreigners of power visiting your country.
People just don't get it. You must think beyond the emotions of "ha ha, it was funny the dude threw that shoe, and since we hate Bush.....hahahaha". This isn't MTV land people, it is the real world. In liberall la la you people don't think about lasting consequences:
1. For 3 years in prison someone could throw shoes at Obama during his inauguration?
2.Hamas could throw stones at Hillary for 4 years?
3.Tlaiban can throw vegtables at Biden for 2 years in prison?
See the LONG TERM problem?????
LIbs want NO harsh consequences! Get a clue.
INteresting how this is the hottest topic in the Politics forum since its beginning. NEVER MIND what this marxist dirtbag is doing to our country!!! NO, no, no, the emotions of Obama winning the election is ALL THAT MATTERS to the lefties on this board, like Not a Disciple, Gibbs, paydirt and the like. NOT ONE has come into this forum to challenge the chump on the MANY lies he has told already, and the steps towards SOCIALISM that he is taking.
NOpe, but when the shoe thrower comes up, WOW, we are all political giants then, huh? Unreal and clueless.
Go back to your la-la forum and talk about Justin Timberlake!
