Here's another topic for discussion among the league. We'll put up a vote after we get a bit of a discussion going.

The commish will have the ability to advance the online franchise week to week. That means that even if people haven't played their games, they'll be simulated and the franchise moves on to the next week. You are only allowed to play your game for the current week that the franchise is in. So you can't jump ahead and play another game if it's not on your schedule.

One way to do it is to automatically advance the league after a certain amount of days, regardless of who has completed their games. We'll have to be strict about this if we want to get to the first offseason within a certain amount of time. By way of a proposal, I'll throw out an option:

Advance the franchise every Friday evening and Monday morning

That would require each owner to schedule and play two games per week, one during the week, and one on the weekend. We'll all have to compromise a little because everyone's schedules are going to be quite different. There may be weeks or weekends where you won't be able to reach your opponent. We can't get upset, that's just life, sometimes. But we're all eager to play games, so for the most part it shouldn't be too tough to find each other and settle on a time to play, given AIM and PSN messages and PMs and email.

let's discuss...

Yeah, 2 games a week sounds about right. Maybe if peoples schedule gets tight, do a 2 games every 10 day schedule. We used to do that and it works OK as well.

the way the online franchise is set up this year I don't think we can do block scheduling like we did last year. the way it works is that the scheduling goes in order, week to week. So for example:

Monday night: Commish advances to regular season
Monday night to Thursday: everyone can play their Week 1 games
Thursday night: Commish advances to week 2
Thursday night to Monday: everyone can play Week 2 games
next Monday night: Commish advances to week 3
Monday night to Thursday: everyone can play week 3 games... and on and on...

and that's it, no way to play your week 10 game in the first block just because both owners are available. we have to go in order of the schedule.

One thing that will help a lot is that we can easily let the cpu simulate games for us... so in case you are having a rough week and can't make your games, just let us know and that's all good. we don't expect everyone to play every single game... though we kinda expect owners to play their playoff games at least. :)

keep it simple, 2 a week with a swing like PML. I'm doing the same with MLM, we should get 2 seasons out of both with those rules. I just hope the commish has powers to give a win to players when people try to avoid playing their games.

not sure about that, I think games just get simmed. Or hopefully there's a possibility of playing vs the cpu if someone really wants to play their game and the opponent is out of town or something.

I agree, and I'd think most others will agree as well. Acc clock is horrible.

i like the idea of 1 during the week and 1 on the weekend. only issue is, its the summer and will be warm through septemer in most areas. weekends may be tough. i would propose the following:

august/september advance every monday.
october on advance once on friday, once on monday

I believe EA will be going to update the default to 7 minutes with accl clock. That seems to work well.

do we have the choice to turn it off? i mean the only reason for accelerated clock is to prevent all kinds of shifting and the like... which we could police ourselves, no?

Please turn that lame **** off. 6 minute quarters with a real clock were just fine. Unless you guys want to play 12 minute quarters on acc ;p

I don't need Madden grinding the clock on me anymore than i need a human to do it.

Please, and the fumble game.

The acc clock can be turned off. I do like it when playing random people who do a million pre snap adjustments ( I just wish the quarters where longer). I agree with JJ though, since this is a league and we all know each other we shouldn't have to worry about people doing crazy audibles and the acc clock should be turned off. I say 6 min Q on All-Madden with reg clock. If we must use acc clock I say we do 7-8 min quarters.

djKianoosh

from the sound of it, I think the best of all worlds is 7 or 8 minute quarters, accl clock on. Try it. play a game with those settings, the game actually flows well. A long methodical drive doesn't take the entire quarter, which is the biggest problem. Sure we get a couple more delay of game penalties with accel clock, but that's part of the game IRL too.
