This is absolutely unacceptable. Yet another reason the death penalty should be abolished. If these judges are going to sentence someone to die, they better be available for whatever may arise in the case, whenever it happens. There's a lot more to the story as well, but none of it excuses this. "Sorry, she's off at 5. Should I take a message?" I, know that only like 1% of cases in Texas result in the death penalty, but this really bothers me. And it should bother everyone else as well.
