I just got this game last night, I love it the graphics and combat is great. However, I need some advice. I went 0-5 to start out. I can last the fight into the third round but everytime i get into the third round I get knocked out by a kick to the head or a punch to the head and its lights out for me. What am I doing wrong? I always hold R1 to block my head, but am I using too much stamina and tiring out my fighter?

Also I try to take down a lot cuz I prefer the ground over a boxing match is that something I should try to do different? I like the game but right now it is frustrating to fight that whole time and lose the fight in the third to one punch to the head lol any advice is great.

Is this with a created fighter? You really gotta work the combos. If you like the ground game its all about getting in the mount position. Take him down and just keep doing your transitions til you get there and then let the fists rain. I really dont bother blocking all that much because the punch still effects you. Try to step back away from the opponents punch and then throw a superman punch.

It is with a created fighter, I'm trying to build up the ground game but in my career when I get into the top ten I get freakin owned on the takedowns. How do you defend a shoot takedown? Is it a back flick on the right stick?

Yes. You just have to do it early in the takedown animation.

This thread was for 2009, but it can still help.

In Undisputed 2010, stay at a distance and let your opponent close. Move sideways and switch between high defense and takedown defense. If you can catch him coming in, go for a takedown.

Once on the ground, stay active with strikes and move around alot. Autoblock will fill in the blanks. Counter-flick transitions and hide your own transition attempts. You would rather the ref stand it up than for you to get your transition countered.

Some important ground info: Leaning is important to hard ground striking. Hold toward your opponent's head to lean into your punches. This makes you more susceptible to being bucked, but you can counter-flick any buck attempt and stay put. Once you get to a position of dominance, make your opponent work to get out. Don't make it easy for him by trying to advance further. Just pound away and counter any transition attempts.

If you end up on the bottom, don't panic and start spamming transitions. Just utilize the autoblock and block your head when your opponent attacks. It will only damage your arms, so it will buy you plently of time to get a leg in or counter a transition attempt.

Transitioning - You can hold a transition attempt for as long as you like to keep from getting counter-flicked. Just hold the starting direction with the R-stick for a bit before finishing the motion. You can hold it as long as you want, but if your opponent sees it he can transition freely if he can start and finish his transition before you finish yours. If you're astute and quick, that should never happen - because you can just finish yor transition as soon as he starts his. Think about it; he can't counter while transitioning - and your transition is already started.

This game is more about being patient and keeping a cool head than it is about skill.
