View Full Version : Draft timer

So I created a test league to check some things with this draft timer specifically, and it looks like the options for the pick by pick timer are:

15,30,45,60 seconds between picks.

You have to choose this and it takes effect for the entire round. If you change the timer in the middle of the round (by pausing the draft and resuming it) the change will only take effect at the start of the next round.

I found that 15 seconds was WAAY too fast. 30 seconds may be ok for the first round where you know the best player you want to pick, and 45 seconds may be good for the next couple rounds, but I believe 60 seconds is a must for anything past the 3rd or 4th rounds. It just takes a long time to sort through all the player lists and figure out what you want. You really have to go in with a draft strategy and even then, 45 or 60 seconds FLIES by.

Also, it looks like the draft snakes, just like fantasy football. So if you have a top pick in the first, man, you are waiting a loooong time.

However, the CPU makes its picks VERY fast. within like 3-6 seconds. So people that pre-rank and let the CPU build their team won't be holding us up no matter how long we set the draft timer to.

ok fellas. let's discuss. I recommend going for 45 or 60 seconds for the draft timer. otherwise it's just ungodly fast. I can't barely make up my mind about the position I want to draft in 30 seconds let alone choose the player! haha.. what say you all?

imo 60 secs is fine, mostly for the reasons you stated about the later rounds. We'll go through the first 10-15 rounds just fine but after that, we got another 40 rounds to go where peeps are gonna need a few seconds to sift things out.

Sounds like 60 seconds is probably the best choice.

I'd say 45 seconds, if everyone took the whole 60 seconds. It would take 32 minutes for a round. If everyone took the whole 45 seconds that would cut it down to 24 minutes a round. We have alot of rounds. LOL.

I say 45 seconds. 30 is to fast if someone picks the guy you wanted the pick before you and 60 will just drag it out to long.

sounds like we should do a poll between 45 and 60 :)

60... because nothing is worse then having the CPU pick for you if you dont get it in in time....

and fromd oing these drafts in various games, you can RELY on the system lagging from time to time and all of a sudden you are on the clock with 4 seconds to go

It has to be :60, that doesnt mean everyone will take the entire amount of time to pick. What JJ said about the lag is true, I cant see EA making this a perfect system.

I think 60 as well. Its the only thing that makes much sense for all of the reasons already stated.

60 sounds fine to me, just we should try to be quick.
