Don't let the looks fool you, Kevin is a smoooooth talking GM.

(East Rutherford, NJ) - The Jets announced early this morning through their press secretary that the team will hold a press conference later this afternoon to announce Kevin Lewis as the teams new General Manager. Team President Jay Cross and head coach "Jersey" Jay Masterson will be on hand to make the announcement and welcome the new GM.

The move comes just days before the leagues initial player draft, a huge event put in place after a long player lockout and a new collective bargaining agreement. Many had felt the Jets would name Masterson the GM in addition to his head coaching duties, but the team in the end felt like they couldnt pass on this opportunity.

"We'll talk about the decision at length at the conference, but in the end we had a chance to bring a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic GM in who we feel could really help build us a championship team." said coach "Jersey" Jay in a brief phone interview. "I've known kevin for a long time, he knows the type of system i run and the type of players I'm looking for. I look forward to working with him."

The Jets have the 5th overall pick in the draft. With all the new changes its really unclear what direction they'll be going with in the draft. Speculation is that the team is going to try and land a young defensive tackle or playmaking WR, which have usually been staples in Masterson's scheme. Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, Kevin Williams, Glenn Dorsey, Calvin Johnson, and Albert Haynesworth are all possibilities at that position.
