Its funny about every crying about running the clock in past years and now they love the accelerated clock feature. Why would I want to run the clock down when I am losing trying to drive for a TD?

it makes no sense. its a horrible feature that most people seem to hate.
there is no drawback to turning if OFF.
why cant we just make a rule saying you can only flip your play once on offense. and be all set?

Why even make that rule at all? Do we want to become one of those sorry arsed Sim leagues where everyone is crying about the rules after every game?
Less rules is better IMO.

I voted no for the simple fact that I hate when people make alot of adjustments. I think you still have enough time to make a few adjustments (realistic) and since this league is suppose to be somewhat sim I think having this on prevents any arguments down the line.
The acc clock is off under 2 min by the way. You dont have to worry about it on a late drive.

well lets wait and see the rules first... although i dont see what could possibly justify accelerated clock.
accelerated clock just encourages hurry up offense every play and guys picking the same play and alot of quick snapping... plus no time to set up a defense either.
its like playing in coach mode

Exactly and having acc clock prevents a lot of this, unless people start going no huddle and audibling like nuts. That can be countered though by doing alot of audibles on defense as well.

Yup
just like a play now game. I almost dont even want to be in the league if the acclerated clock is going to be on.

Accelerated clock pro's:
- alot of flipping of plays
- mulltiple hot routes
Accelerated Cloc Cons's:
- no huddle being run 90% of the time
- no time for defensive playmakering
- no time to send a guy in motion
- little time for adjustments
- no true sense of how much time is left in quarters, unless you have an abacus next to you
- more people milking clock, and blaming it on accelerated clock
What does accelerated clock prevent? 1 or 2 guys out of 32 from audibling a couple more times then normal? is it really worth that trade off to have to play no huddle all game?

Doesn't accelerated clock = milking the clock?
In past leagues rules were put in place to stop milking the clock. With accelerated clock on your going to milk the clock with out even trying to.

exactly....at a bare minimum your losing 25 seconds off the clock every play.

JJ you tend to exaggerate. accel clock doesn't mean people will be no-huddling 90% of the time. please stop throwing numbers around like that. that doesn't help the conversation anyway.
15 seconds off a 40 second play clock means you still have 25 seconds to call your play, get to the line, and make a TON of changes at the line. just chill and give it a chance  8 minutes with accel clock on. try it. The only time you will have any issue with accel clock is after a penalty or change of possession. And at that point you can hurry -to the line- (not talking about no-huddle), and you'll still have 10-14 seconds to make your adjustments and snap the ball.
Plenty of time. makes the games go by much smoother and less wasted time for both players just sitting there letting the play clock go from 30+ all the way down to less than 10 seconds.

- I encourage people to run no-huddle vs me, I dont mind it at all.
- I can do all my plamaker stuff with acc clock. I usually do about 3-4 hot routes on defense.
- I have no problems sending 1 guy in motion (more than 1 would be a penalty)
- I can get all my adjustments in on time
- You can lose track of time but the clock is always on the screen with or without acc clock. All you have to do is pay attention to it.
-If we do 7-8 min quarters no one should complain about the clock being milked.
I honestly don't care either way. I know most of the people in this league are more sim rather than freestyle players. I can play either way, but if this is suppose to be a more sim oriented league why not use something that encourages sim play?

If people were going to flip out over such a small thing, this league is better off without them.
Its a 15 second runoff, that's all. DJ is far from some crazed dictator with no logic behind his rules.
That being said, I can't see how a vote could hurt.

Have fun finding owners who will keep their team when they are 0-5. Look at your waiting list?
These are not small things, these are the things that make the league either more fun then playing an online ranked game or just a waste of time.

Again, if 15 seconds disappearing every play is make or break for you, I gotta wonder exactly how many "adjustments" you plan on making at the LOS.
But whatever, honestly I don't care much either way. I would say a vote would be good since some owners are so fired up.

for sure. I just wanted to put out all the rules just so we have some context as some rules affect others. accel clock with 5 minute quarters is a totally different beast than with 8 minute quarters. and there's a domino effect with other rules if you don't have accel clock.
can we agree to do the poll tomorrow after people have had a chance to play a practice game tonight on all-madden 8 minute quarters with 15 second accelerated clock?

We need to vote on that to.
FUG 8 minute qtrs. 5-6 minute qtrs accelerated off.

usually 2 or 3:
- make an HB or TE block or set up my protection
- usuaully 1 WR hot route
- sometimes send a WR in motion
usually its 50/50 on if i can get that off, depending how long it takes to pick my play.

FUG 8 minute qtrs. 5-6 minute qtrs accelerated off.
the choice would most likely be between:
1. 5 or 6 minute qtrs All-Madden w/Accel clock off, plus some rules against clock milking, excessive adjustments at the LOS (which are practically unenforceable)
or
2. 8 minute qtrs All-Madden w/Accel clock on

Why make rules against Clock Milking when you want it in the first place?
How do you plan on enforcing any rules? The only real way is to kick a member out, if you do that you are hurting the league because once people start leaving its a free for all.
You dont want a revolving door of team owners because it ruins the league.

yeah, that sounds ok to me. I have no trouble doing that with acc clock on, though. Well minus the motion, its just so slow to do that I rarely bother, even with acc clock off. My hot routes are done before they reach the line anyways....then just check presnap D and go.
Thats why its a small issue with acc clock for me.

I think I do more adjustments than you, and I never get delay of game. The only time where I'm limited is during change of possession and Ive adjusted.

I have played over 20 games online and I hate the accelerated clock, extending the game doesn't change the way it effects your playcalling and how you setup before the snap.
Anyways who is going to want to play an 8 minutes practice game?

Its not just adjustments, its motion. Motion takes a long time because the players are so slow. it takes a few seconds to get to the line, then motion your player and let him get into position before you snap the ball. There was a double TE play I tried to run online the other day and I got called for back to back delay of games because I couldnt get the TE motion finished in time.
I cant remember anyone doing "excessive" motion, adjustments before the play in a league for over two years. Only people I can even think of are Rev and Sticks and that has been a while now.

Motioning is hit or miss sometimes I agree. I'll be ok with it on or off, but I do prefer it on. If they ever change the game speed back to normal, I think motioning with the acc clock would be a lot smoother.

if you cant, its a problem.
so why not go with the solution that effects no one? then everyone can make adjustments and be happy

How do you make adjustments and hot routes before you even get to the line of scrimmage and see what kind of defense you are facing? Thats not really reading a defense if you make your adjustments in 3 seconds prior to getting to the line. Personally I would look what the defense is doing before I made adjustments, but maybe that is why I suck.
