Online Franchise League

The premise of this league is to have fun, compete, and trash talk all in a friendly and healthy atmosphere.
We don't want to bog ourselves down with too many rules, overcompensating for glitching/etc. For the most part we should police ourselves. So if you suspect shenanigans please upload the highlight because a picture speaks 1000 words. We'll deal with everything on a case by case basis.
In the long history of VG leagues, leagues are successful mainly because owners are competitive yet friendly with each other and don't really abuse anything. This is supposed to be a fun league, where people actually try to put together brilliant gameplans and schemes, not simply a few trick plays or gimmicks. Certain types of glitch plays will be banned on a case by case basis to maintain the fun factor for the league. Those plays will be listed below after they are voted on by the league.

The Online Franchise flows in a chronological order. The commissioner is charged with advancing the week. He will advance two times a week:
Wednesday Morning
Sunday Morning
It is your responsibility to schedule your games via all available means of communication (PM, IM, email, etc.) as specified in the contact info thread (http://www.maddentips.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129463). Please schedule your games as much ahead of time as possible. If you are out of town, this is understandable, just please notify the league and your opponents via a post/PM. If you go absent without notice, you will be kicked out of the league posthaste at the commissioner's discretion.

Online Franchise Rules
Trading
All trades must be posted in the official trade thread
Trading with a CPU team is off
Trading Draft Picks
1st and 2nd round picks can be traded; trade at your own risk; If the person you traded with doesn't show up for the online draft you are stuck with the CPU pick
Online Franchise allows owners to trade players 1-3 players for 1-3 players. All trades are subject to commish approval, and will be done according to a general guideline (not a steadfast rule) that says that:
All trades must be within 5 pts of players' Overall Ratings.
Example A: Team 1 trades QB Jones (92 OVR) to Team B for RB Smith (88 OVR) = OK
Example B: Team 1 trades QB Jones (92 OVR) to Team 2 for RB Smith (81 OVR) = Discouraged
Free Agency
Because the Online Franchise feature provided to us by EA has no tools to restrict free agent transactions, it is left wide open. You may add/drop at your discretion.
In-Game Rules
Absolutely No Glitching
If you suspect someone is glitching, save the highlight. Upload it. Let's talk about it before jumping to conclusions. Don't get mad cause you lost. Not everyone calls plays the same as you either. Don't expect everyone to play like you. But save the highlight and yet give the benefit of the doubt.
If your opponent uses a glitch, send them a reminder message right away. If they do it again, finish the game anyway and PM the commissioner(s) afterward describing what happened. Both owners will be asked for their side of what happened. Please try to use the highlight feature for proof of being glitched, this will help your cause a lot.
Each glitch play will be voted on by the league and added to the addendum at the bottom of this thread.
No Quitting Games. Absolutely not allowed.
Pausing Games
Only pause at the play call screen, never when players are going to the line of scrimmage, or during a play.
Sometimes the situation warrants a pause. Some owners have kids and/or a demanding wife (Wive's like to say: if you have time for madden, you have time for us). So if an owner pauses the game, give him a shout on messenger, find out whats going on and please allow the owner time to deal with what is going on.
No B1tching
We cannot have owners come on these boards constantly complaining. It ruins the fun for everybody. Be a man. :cool: Be cool. We're not your longtime buddy that you can curse at and still be cool afterwards. Moderate your speech, especially online and let it sliiiide. Try not to be easily upset.
This is not a rule, but a general guideline or league principle
Mix up your playcalling! You should try to incorporate a wide variety of plays in your offensive and defensive arsenal. This increases the enjoyment of everyone in the league.
Fair Play
4th down rule:
If you're up by more than 8 points, you may NOT go for the first down no matter what.
Otherwise, it's at your discretion if one of the following is true:
1. 4th and 1 or less, OR
2. Down by more than 8, OR
3. In the 2nd half
No rule against running up the score, but if you're up by 25, let off the gas homeboy! Again, be cool :cool:
Onside kicks : Only allowed in the 2nd half if you are losing
A no-huddle offense is allowed except after an incomplete pass.
Play your games in the true spirit of the game. Everyone here knows what that means. We also know what good sportsmanship means. We know the game can be emotional at times, but limit any posts that bash your opponent afterward. In fact, don't post right after a loss if you are emotional. Just back off.
Punishment for Rule Violations
After league discussion (http://www.maddentips.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133166), violating the rules will result in:
Violator will bench his highest rated player for the following games, game, half, or quarter, at the commissioner's discretion.
