Mel's Mock Draft ver. 1.0

hey Mel here with my first version of this thursdays mock draft!

1. sourdiesel - Adrian Peterson. Sour loves big name guys and is a big vikings fan. this is a no brainer

2. money mo - Nmadi Asamaouosudosjdsa. Money mo has made no secrets that he covets the young shutdown corner

3. stick - calvin johnson. Stick loves big fast physical WR's. he will jump at the opportunity to draft johnson

4. djkianoosh - Asante Samuel. with asamouga off the board kianoosh goes with his home teams young stud corner.

5. jersey jay - Larry Fitzgerald. JJ probably doesnt pass on the young stud fitz for his high powered offensive attack

6. gargamil - Patrick Willis. With the top young corners gone gargamil picks willis. andre johnson also a possibility here.

7. huntin 1 - chris johnson. with favre not eligible huntin goes with the blazing fast youngster chris johnson.

8. in da clutch - andre johnson. at this spot you cant pass on the stud WR still in his mide 20's.

9. goatster - Big Ben. Goatster goes with the best young franchise qb in the game instead of reaching elsewhere

10. gtright - Jay Cutler. and so the run on young stud QB's with rocket arms continues.

11. nevadaballin - Terrell Suggs. Nevada goes with the 26 year old premier linebacker to anchor his jackal defense

12. dr. monkey dance - Tom Brady. Not as young as the other qbs but the doc gets the games best passer.

13. T Dogg - Ike Taylor. Ike still in his 20's and a top corner with size and strength.

14. Armagod - Brandon Marhsall. he cant rocket catch yet, but when he can he'll have his stud to do it with.

15. RDRZ408 - Albert Haynesworth. first lineman off the board. alberts young and a 1 man run blitz.

16. mofo - Alex Brown. mofo takes UF's best pro player.

17. mike the menace - DeAngello Williams. Young. Fast. Strong. cant miss pick here

18. rangeview - Kevin Williams. Range gets his DT to user pass rush with.

19. mark the snowman - Peyton Manning. Another veteran superstar off the board

20. Njssurf - Michael Turner. Surf gets the young stud halfback and value pick in this slot.

21. JDmsi - Matt stafford. at 21 with a rocket arm this is a cant miss pick.

22. Skinsman - Clinton Portis. Skinsman stays at home with this pick taking the 27 year old stud runner.

23. DSF - Randy Moss. DSF goes with the the games legendary player hoping to "moss" people to death.

24. miracle - Ed Reed. miracle gets the games best safety to fit perfectly into his system

25. ramsballa - Joe Thomas. Rev cant figure out how the draft works, and the cpu autopicks thomas for him :)

26. st. john - Demarcus Ware. St. john excited to get ware at this spot.

27. str8reepin - Jon Beason. another stud, the 24 year old beason falls into a teams lap.

28. rotato24 - Troy Polamolu. the games other coverboy is off the board.

29. highlander - Osi Uminyora. Highlander goes with the giants superstar pass rusher.

30. Deacmike - willie parker. Deac goes with fast willy, another young back to anchor his run game.

31. Cy702 - champ bailey. only fell this far due to his age, but cy gets a steal here

32. Alaw - Jamarcus Russell. Alaw goes with his boy J-Russ to be his qb for the next decade

With his holy hair-ness being new to the NGML the focus was on who SHOULD be picked in those spots in some cases. My 82 point criteria for the mock was most heavily weighted by:

- who was picking and what they will be looking to draft based on their personal philoshiphy and team affiliation

- a players total value which includes not only skillset but to a lesser extent age, injury history, and depth and that position

- popular opinion as far as which position are the most value.

im sure ill miss on some but i probably hit on quite a few

Brady would be a good pick, by the numbers. No worries. But yes if you're a player for the Cowboys, Patriots, Colts, or Giants, don't even bother showing up for workouts.

oh he is the best.... nothing better then when he calls you about madden. in the old ps2 franchise drafts the way it worked was i had to enter in all the picks and guys would have to call me or post there pick in a chat room... when he
called it was like:

"whooooo hoooo. hey JJ this is doctor walter sims hollerin at cha about my pick coming up. now how you doiiiiiiiiiin?"

me: "oh hey rev im good just trying to keep up.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA i heard that. now for my pick i want randy moss"

me: oh sorry man he was drafted 12 rounds ago

"hmmmm oh my bad my bad. ok give me reggie bush"

me: yea he went in round 1 also

"ahhh ok well then give me my man marc bulger from my RAMS playa"

LOL, funny stuff. Last year, he wanted me to trade him Bulger, and made no bones about how much he wanted him. Even offered me a 95 ovr safety and Philip Rivers....

I traded him straight up Rivers for Bulger to avoid the guilt.

It didn't matter much to me, as Bulger didn't even start.

I do wonder how many players he has on draft board though....probably just Moss, Bush, and Bulger like 50 times apiece :P

Rev actually does pretty good at drafting, except for all the times he misses his pick! trading is where he falls short... he is just too nice to say no.

in our league he would always start with the NFC pro bowl team and end up with 2 rams stars and 20 65 ovr rated guys

If Moss drops down to the 20's something is wrong, lol. I know this is a chise but I doubt we do more than 3 seasons and Moss should still be a force in season 3. In the right hands he's still the most dangerous weapon in Madden (Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson are close and Vick isn't in this league).

for me 16 to 32 sounds about right. i mean he is 33 years old in the game. your likely seeing regression in year 2 and/or 3. that could be -3 to -5 spd right off the bat. and who knows he may very well retire at 34 or 35. ive seen plenty of retirements from 33 years to 35 years in offline franchise mode sims. for instance dwight freeney retired after season 2 in both of my sims at 33.

either way i dont see how you can argue moss over fitz, andre johnson, or calvin johnson. maybe over brandon marshall, but then that just comes down to age vs. speed.

even if we only go 2 to 3 seasons, and moss doesnt retire or regress, is it worth the risk of your first pick in the draft retiring? a top 10 overall?

i think later first round once all the superstuds start to go the risk is worth it. early on with other guys out there, not so much

I'll take Moss over all those guys due to the fact he's faster than all of them, and has a 99 rocket catch rating (aka spectacular catch rating). Ask anybody who has played me before in leagues about how different my offense is with Moss. Rocket catch is toned down is what people think. If I want to be an a-hole I can still rocket catch my way down the field and it would be very hard to stop. All I need is one big WR preferably 2 and one speed guy. I already labbed it on all-madden in a unranked game with San Diego ( Gates, Jackson, and Chambers) and dude had no answer on defense. I just dont like playing like that and I dont need to play like that to win.
