View Full Version : Free Agents after the draft

Just a heads up, the way it seems in another league I'm in it seems that free agents are completely freely available after the draft. Now, in a couple of sample leagues I tested out, there's really not much out there after a fantasy draft. but that was with mostly cpu teams drafting. now, with a lot of human players involved, there may or may not be some worthwhile free agents out there at the conclusion of the draft.

do we want to restrict it? open it up completely?

Restrict signing, just reverse draft order and we can have a FA draft the first few weeks i guess.

Unless anyone else has a better idea. A mad FA rush on Saturday Night doesn't sound too fair.

But I'm not above doing it if i'm bored :D

free agency done after the initial draft in reverse order probably easier done in a thread?

not sure if it's easier.. i'm in another league and i find it is quite easy to pick up free agents and drop players. there is basically no restriction. so i'm kinda concerned about people who aren't checking these boards regularly who may not know to wait for any kind of forum-controlled supplemental FA draft.

Send everyone a PS3 message to check the forum boards for new info. You can also post in the OF News section

yeah, as commish I have really no way to restrict this. If someone is on their console they can add/drop as they feel like. So I'm not really inclined to make any restrictions or make any kind of supplemental draft.

Down the line, to address nevada's point, we'll all be monitoring the transactions and if any team drops a good player it will be scrutinized and I have no problem putting that player back onto the original team. especially in the case of an owner who leaves the league, or a team out of the playoffs and stuff like that.

I'll just need y'alls help in monitoring things and bringing that stuff out in the open.

just leave it wide open first come first serve.... we are dfrafting like 40 or 50 players, a few FA's wont matter

lol.. we're drafting 53! :) full teams.

there will be VERY slim pickings in FA at that point. basically extreme backups and special teams players.

so i'm good with that. the issue is preventing shenanigans down the line.

and in the offseason, do we want to force everyone to have to drop at least one 80's+ ovr player to simulate a sort of free agency? kind wacky, but right now in the next offseason the only way teams lose players is via retirement, or to make space for rookies. there's no salary consideration to force teams to cut players.

just a thought. not saying that's what I want to do or anything.

I think after the season we should have to drop two 80+ players and have a two round FA draft.

No way... we're not trying to simulate fantasy football, we're trying to simulate NFL .... lol

Looking forward to a Madden-generated Draft Class too, those things always have some freaks of nature in them :)
