What is sad is that nothing would have happened if it wasn't for FOX news. I think we should all give them a round of applause for helping begin the takedown of this corrupt Obama pet organization! ;)
The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census. ACORN had previously been tapped to help with low level data gathering. A copy of the Director's letter has been sent to Congress and relevant committees, as well as ACORN.
This latest news comes as two more ACORN officials were fired Friday after a second video surfaced showing staffers in the community organizers' Washington office offering to help a man and woman posing as a pimp and prostitute acquire illegal home loans that would help them set up a brothel.

First of all, this story broke on Glenn Beck and Breitbart.
Secondly, it was a FAKE prostitute.
THIRD, what would Republicans looking for sex have to do with Acorn being a corrupt organization? An organization slated to get as much as $8.6 BILLION from the "stimulus" package?
Nice try at deflection.

1. Where did i say who "broke" the story? No where. i said i saw it 2 days before that post on CNN. So defensive of your Faux News... lol.
2. Well aware it was a setup. Also aware that the backers of this setup tried unsuccessfully in several other ACORN offices before this one.
3. The point is there is corruption everywhere. If a Republican gets busted with a hooker does that mean the entire party is guilty of using hookers ---- or is that something that should be indivdualized?

If you want to connect the actions of individuals as a means of bringing down an entire organization then i guess there isn't one legit organization in this country - we need to disgrace and disassemble every single one of them.
This is the problem with a lot of people. Too much time concentrating on bad apples.

Yeah, if they would have done it "the right way", they would have done it 40-50+ times before they revealed thier findings. I would estimate 75% would have promoted prostitution via govt fundings. Funny how dumb these people are still, no? Dont' they watch FOX? LOLOL!

No I think thier problems are going to come from the D.A.
“Baltimore, MD – September 11, 2009 – We have received inquiries from citizens and the media asking whether the Baltimore City State’s Attorneys Office would initiate a criminal investigation for acts allegedly committed at ACORN offices located in Baltimore. The only information received in reference to this alleged criminal behavior was a YouTube video. Upon review by this office, the video appears to be incomplete. In addition, the audio portion could possibly have been obtained in violation of Maryland Law, Annotated Code of Maryland Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article 10-402, which requires two party consent . . . If it is determined that the audio portion now being heard on YouTube was illegally obtained, it is also illegal under Maryland Law to willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio. The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to 5 years.”
Second, ACORN’s attorneys on September 10th sent a letter to Roger Ailes, President of Fox News, stating ACORN’s unequivocal position that the “videotape is doctored” and the “voiceovers change the real dialog,” and demanding that Fox “cease publication of these tapes unless it can produce proof that the conversations actually took place.” You can read the letter on ACORN's website here.
In a follow-up letter, on September 11th, ACORN’s attorneys stated that the “filming and broadcast of the conversations at the Baltimore ACORN offices violates 10-402(a)(1) of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article of the Maryland Code, which makes it unlawful to willfully intercept, endeavor to intercept, or procure any other person to intercept any oral conversation unless all parties to the communication consent . . . .” This letter is posted in its entirety here.

Where in this thread did I say "I am a lawyer rarrrrrrrrrrr!" cause I must have missed it.
Once again, why is it that you think insulting my skill as an attorney is in any way relevant to a political discussion? Why is it funny to "rag on" someone for being successful? Other then jealousy, what reason could there be to "rag on" someone for achieving success in life?
I believe this is what we in the legal community (oh noez! I talked about my job!:rolleyes: ) call the ad hominem fallacy.
An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps. First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:
1. Person A makes claim X.
2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
3. Therefore A's claim is false.
The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

I do have to get myself "on record" here before the Konservative Klowns try to imply where i stand on this when they don't really know --- Investigations are needed for this group. If they are shown to corrupt from the top down then by all means, prosecute away. But I'm not gonna jump on a bandwagon that is based on media reporting from a liberal headhunter like Fox (MSNBC is a conservative headhunter as well and I wouldn't go on anything they'd say either).
Back to point though, ACORN has put themselves in a position where they need to open their doors, their books and their phone records for investigation.

The more and more I read some of you people the more I realize you are just mindless partisans hacks that are the reason why things are so bad now. Somebody posts something that is disgusting and the first thing people do is run to politics. For people who claim to be so old and mature some of you sure act like little girls. Regardless of what side you are on what was on those tapes was disgusting. It was shameful and scary that somebody could walk into anywhere and say they were trying to bring 13 year old girls in to make sex slaves and the whole place didn't go up in arms trying to throw them out. That is a sign of a poor culture. For anybody who has worked in a firm with a good culture when you see people who are not only willing to do something illegal but in some cases do it with other co-workers sitting right there then there is someting wrong with how they are being supervised. I have worked in places with good cultures and places with bad cultures and I can see that this isn't the case of a few rogue employees. This seems like they need to reinforce to all the employees what they are there for. It is good to see them get fired but more has to be done to make sure these types of people don't get in again.
I don't know much about ACORN but I do believe they are sketchy. However if they do such a poor job in hiring people then there needs to be some sort of intervention.
If you only see the politics in this and not how disgusting it is what those woman were suggesting then you are an assclown.

Do you know whats truly maddening about the whole ACORN thing? That is the fact that they actually do some good and yet a few bad apples here and there totally discounts that, why? I didn't see this kind of outrage against the Catholic Church, why? I don't know what ACORN's over all budget is but they receive approx $5M tax dollars a year. This is a mininscule amount compared to other groups. Why is there no outrage over Blackwater? The Defense Industry a known abuser, why no outrage? Where is the outrage for the fat cats that got the bailouts and gave out the bonuses? Wall Street could certainly use some of this outrage but there is none, why?
I think there is a more nefarious plot concerning ACORN that was started and perpetrated by certain media. That is to divide the people and keep thier eyes and minds off of the above and so far it's working.
