i dont think we make it out of the first round. i have no faith in this lineup to score in the playoffs, and jackson and verlander are no stiffs.

i think our bullpen is good enough to get it done, and the starters are solid, but i just have no faith in guys like cano, matsui, arod, posada, damon to hit in october.

we need tex and swisher to get hot i think.

Thong:

Can you replace your previous sig quote and just swap out "Jets" with "Yankees?"

JJ has no faith in them making it out of the first round just like he never had faith in ole chokey Peyton Manning winning a playoff game "until he was 40 and a backup." We need to start a running log of JJ hyperbole so it will be much easier to call him out on his **** later on.

peyton hasnt exactly been great in the playoffs. sure he proved me wrong and was superbowl mvp. but his playoff run that season left ALOT to be desired. would you be suprised if he doesnt get another ring?

as far as the yankees. maybe im being pessimistic, but its tough living in mass and talking up the yankees the past 5 years only to have the bats disappear in the playoffs... so im talking the opposite approach this time

You can say what you want on any topic --- I agree with you on many things; others I question the planet from which you are writing. Do not "mush" the Yanks.

I will only say this: The first round does concern me more than any round for the simple fact that it is five games which, w has been proven to be a crap shoot. Power pitchers have shut them out in the first round for three of the last four years. Since 96, only once have they been bounced from the ALCS.

It's not worth delving into it, but suffice it to say, the Tigers should be more worried about the Yanks than the Yanks should them.

exactly... its not that i have some kind of respect for the tigers or think they are a better team. just recent history has me iffy.

for sure. especially the way the yanks shut them down last time around

Meanwhile, I have my vacation planned around the second round of the playoffs this year. I have set it for the week of the first round for the previous four years.

I have had some pretty ****ty vacations.

Wow

Minny and Det have a three-game series on tap, and Minny closes out against KC

The first round is always a crap shoot, especially when the under dog can roll out a pair of filthy pitchers 4 out of 5 games like Detroit would be able to in Verlander/Jackson.

CCs on point, and well rested compared to previos years, Andys healthy, AJs had some good starts heading into the post-season, and the bull pen is set. I think they'll go with the 2 days of rest in the 1st round and use Joba as a long man, even though going with 1 day of rest means the Tigers would have to use Washburn, and only have Verlander twice if it went 5.

With how hot the offense has been 1-9 all year, I can't see them all going cold at the same time. Verlander/Jackson or not.
