Believe it or not I was going to post this exact same thing.
I haven't found anything that blows this up but the 46 normal 2 man under works pretty good. Spread LB's. Grab the DB on the play side and move him out.
This will slow it down but it doesn't shut it down.
There is an Offtackle run in the R+G book that has similar dynamics to the GL run. I forget the set, but it's easy to find - and even easier to scheme around. It's one of the best sets in the game - and definitely the best run 1st set '10 has to offer. It's primarily an inside running set, so bigger backs work best.
Another similar set is Oakland's Strong I Flex. It isn't quite as strong a run as the offtackle in the R+G, but the TE is split - and he helps the RB get to the edge - and he also makes it easier to read defenses. Just make the TE your 1st read.

would a 46 Normal SS Blitz help here? or would the SS just run right into the blockers and take himself out of the play?

There are no "Off Tackle" runs in the Run N Gun playbook, so I believe you are thinking of another playbook.

This used to be really big on 07, when it was in every goaline formation. If I rember correctly I usually just crashed the play side in a normal 4-3 or 3-4 look so that my corner would have safety help if he got taken out. It would slow it down enough that they would stop running it. I would blitz the LB on that side also and put the playside DT on a contain

It sure was nice to have the ability to formation shift out of goal line run plays into I form sets, back in the day. I'd come out in I form, aud to a goal line run play (like off tackle), then quickly formation shift back to I form. Talk about expanding your playbook...

It isn't called Off-Tackle, but make no mistake - it's an offtackle run.

No insight on shutting this down?
No insight on shutting this down?
I haven't found anything to completely shut it down, but I haven't been killed by it either. I just run my regular defenses and put a safety in the box.

Maybe you haven't had some try this on you with Peterson.

I had a game last night were the guy would audible down to GL out of a 5wr spread set.It came up as 3-1-1.Guy figured out how to throw the screen against BnR man and be effective with it so I had to have the right personel out there and then he would aud down and pound the ball. The problem I had was backside contain.I fixed it though. If you want to try mine mellow let me know via pm.

Not to get in the convo or nothing but why via PM??? Is it not somthing that you can share with the rest or does everyone that wants to know how you are able to contain it have to send you a PM?

I like 46 Rush Outside and 46 Strong Blitz with Speed subs. Spread the line and crash right. Shift LB to right and user the safety. Be patient with the safety.

I've seen it with Peterson, Jacobs, Chris Johnson, and even Barry Sanders.

Have yall figured anything out? I play a guy who did that, I slowed it down with the colts defense but Brandon Jacobs is a pain to bring down. I overloaded that side and put freeney in contain and blitzed one or two linebackers and user'd either bethea or sanders. 4-3 Normal free fire is a play that is set up how I try and defend it. Can yall lab this and let me know if it has any effect?

Just shift, re-blitz, and bring the OLB.

yes there is, as soon as you select Goal line flick your left analog up twice and it will be the left hand play.
