View Full Version : Freelancing Linebackers

One thing that's absolutely annoying to me in both NCAA and Madden is the unnecessary pre-snap movement of the linebackers. Basically before the snap they'll more times than not start freelancing around the line of scrimmage, which almost always gets them out of position to make a play. In my opinion this serves no use to the design of the defensive play in anyway whatsoever. If I choose to manually move a guy around I can deal with the consequences more so than I can when they continually freelance around on their on. It really doesn't matter in most cases whether or not you have the Man Shift in the controller settings on Manual or Auto.

I have noticed this too especially when the crowd is making noise or its a big play. I don't feel like it serves in purpose other than to make me mad when my MLB is out of position on a 3 & 2 and misses or can't get to the FB on a dive. I think in EA's mind it serves as a fake blitz of some kind but it is very annoying. Once I get my D set I don't want them moving unless its me doing the moving. I think it does not matter if man shift is on auto or manual. Seems like just another thing in this game that was supposed to increase realism but screws it up somehow.
