4th and short

Rob, I was thinking should we have a rule when it's 4th and short and you are down you can go for it after the half, (3rd and 4th quarters only) due to what happened during the first week? Thoughts? If not it's all good but I think I could have made that game a little more interesting if I went for it, lol!

Think about this. If theirs 2 minutes left in the 3rd qtr., thats only 9 mins left in the whole game, plus an accelrated clock.
In the NFL, if a team was down 17 points, on their own side of the field, it's 4th and 2, 9 minutes left in the game, would they go for it? Probably. You almost have to at that point.......

I think it should stay the way it is, only go for it on fourth. You should have got the first down on the first 3 downs.

Yea but there no real way that that is going to be able to be watched. Everyone interpitation of when to go for it is different. There is no real way to watch it because everyone will think going for it at certain times is good idea. By having it in fourth quarter only that means that everyone is on the same rule base.

It states in the rule that you can go for it on 4th and short which is 4th and 1 according to Kobra if I remember correctly, I had two 4th and 1's in the last game in the 3rd and converted them both but it still didn't help, lol! I think it's okay only after half time and you are down by a short amount. Either way I'm down with any rules!

yea rob first its down by 17..then it goes down by 14..then who knows from there. I have no problem with people going for it on 4th on their own side, but what the point of making the rule like that was to give people who play D a reward. I mean 4th and 1 4th and 2, thats automatic with a couple of plays all the time.

Bootz I have told you since the beginning thats why we wanted the rule. So people were rewarded for good defense. But from pee-wee to the NFL, their comes a time in some games where teams HAVE to go for it on 4th down. You act like you've never seen a football game before lol???
Down 17 points with 9 minutes to go, 4th and 3 on your own side of the field, you HAVE to go for that on 4th down if you have any chance of winning the game, period.

Bootz, Im clearly stating that when theirs 2 minutes left in the 3rd qtr., thats like 9 minutes left in the 4th qtr. in the NFL, and if your down by 17, its a must go situation. Say your down by 24 with 4 minutes left in the 3rd qtr., thats 11 minutes left in the 4th qtr. of the NFL.
If an NFL team was down by 24 and had a 4th and short with 11 minutes left in the game, on their own side of the field, do you really think an NFL team would punt the ball away? No, so why should guys have to do it in our Franchise?

I just think their has to be a way to make it more realistic. Especially in these dire situations.

I wanted to keep going for it on fourth down as simple as I could, and the way it states in the rules section, I think it does this. As of now I see no need to change it.
