streaking WRs down field

hey guys having a serious problem stopping double reciever fly patterns. im playing in a season with some friends and all of a sudden im finding it hard to stop bomb plays to either side of the field. i try to play cover 2 and when i control the FS he lobs it over to the SS side of the field. i tried to do cover 4 but that doesnt work either because there is not enough pressure on the QB and when i control eith saftey he throws it to the opposite side, please tell what can i do to control this.

Punt Protect it is called I think. It is where u have to plyers back to recieve the punt. It is MARVELOUS against the Deep pass. But remember. Hit the receiver, don't go for an int, unless u r 100% sure. This is what I use on all deep passing downs. I normally have people 3rd and long anyway. So I have to have a complete attacking plan. :eek:

are you serious!!! you can use a punt formation to defend that. ill have to try it in practice mode to see how it works. hey another thing how can you get it position to lay the big hit . the guys i play with throw the bullett type deep ball to the wide recievers and its hard to switch your man in time to get in position to make a play on it or do you let the computer handle it, thanks for responding

Those r interceptions waiting to happen!!!! What I do.. as soon as he throws it, I hit the X button. Then u let the cpu position the plyer. Then u lay him out. The next thing I do is check the highlighted plyers position. If the person that is hit is out of position, u must hit X again to get the next plyer.

for example:

U r covering a man with a cb underneath, and a safety on top. The cpu highlights the man underneath, but u don't want that one. U want to man on top. Hit X again, and he should b next in line. Don't touch the control stick unless u r skilled. I do it sometimes. But if the cpu is in better position, I will just let the cpu maneuver (hope I spelled that right) the man and hit L2. There r times I will take control of the secondary, but VERY VERY rarely.

I was plying this guy last night. It was NC state vs. OK... I was NC state. He was manually taking his corner, and bumping me while the ball is in the air. I normally as soon as I throw it. Hit X so I can get ready for a manual catch attempt. What happen is, that on one occassion, he took control of his defender, and it moved away from my receiver. Givin him the space to catch it for a touchdown. :D

Put this into ur audibles. Call a dime formation, and then audible to this formation. It will do two things.
-Keep the formation hid from ur opponent.
-Put more coverage speed on the field. ;)

okay let me just make sure i understand , when the ball is thrown just just press the x button and choose the man in best position to lay the hit but dont control him, then press L2 to attempt the big hit. do you go for the big hit all the time or just some time? also what about the middle of the field does that punt formation leave the middle completely open or will there be somebody to cover the slot WR, running backs, or TE

...I thought it was called "Safe Return"....at least I think that is the one that has the two safeties back to catch the ball :confused: ...have not heard of this strategy...might have to check it out :rolleyes: ......

No just keep hitting x until u get the man u want. But like I said press it when he throws it, not when the ball gets close. Plus I believe Air Raid is right about the name. It is safe return.... They call this ply to prevent the punting from throwing it out of the punt formation. By the way everyone. I blocked 2 punts in my last game. Things r coming back to me. I did it out of the safe return also. I am so sick.... LOL

Someone talked about it being done to him on this forum. I just took it and ran with it. It is awesome if u have a great team. Good if u have a mediocre also. I use it often.... :mad: It works really well against the hail mary. Put this with the Analog blitz,and u have an almost unbeatable combination...... :D

I will normally blitz the quicker end. But I am finding that if the slower end has a higher overall average, I would blitz him more often... for example

I sometimes ply with LSU... LOVE THE SPEED BABBY!!!! I sometimes blitz #99 I think he has 80 spd. But he doesn't always get around the edge. But I will take # 84 with the 99 overall average and 76 spd, and just crush him. Sometimes spd is not all it is made out to b.... :cool:

When I c someone trying to abuse the middle. The short middle is the achilles heel for the punt safety. I normally will take the end, and manually cover the middle. If he is fast enough, u can contain running Qbs as well as totally shutdown someone's offensive attacks... I did this to one guy, and he was totally handcuffed.... :rolleyes:
