Defensive guide is really good. Kobra is one of the best at finding nano's and schemes that require very little adjustments. Most of his defensive setups only require one or two moves.
Also at the end of the guide he give you ways to counter some of the most popular schemes being run on offense.
Very good stuff!!!!!!!!!!

I cant help but point out that the d guide is defenitley not worth the money . First off you can hardly see the players on the still photos wich makes it very frustrating . If you want to be overwelmed and you got time to read 500 different combinations of coverage audibles and hot routes then put up the 27.00 bucks . Sorry Vg but you could have done better , the virtual filmroom was definetley the way to go so we can see the plays in action instead of trying to make sense of puney little photos that you cant make heads or tales of . What ever happen to Kobra ?

The criticism regarding the pictures is a valid one. I agree that a video playbook should've been done instead. take notice that many of the concepts discussed in the Defensive Coordinator's guide is the same from last year's video playbook. I recommend referring to last year's video play book along with this year's guide.
Bert or Kobra, if you are reading this, the video playbook is the better product. Try to get it done next year.

As of right now, no plans for video playbooks for Madden 10.
The Offensive Coordinator's Guide (and all guides we do as an official licensor) have to go through an approval process.
It has been sent to EA SPORTS (approved), the NFLPA (approved) and now we are waiting for the final go ahead from the NFL.
As soon as we get the word, it will be released. Should be any day now.
ALC, that statement is way off based. Trust me I have begged, pleaded my case all summer long and I am still pleading to be able to do videos. Right now it's in the hands of the NFL, if they allow us to post videos, then we can, if not, then we can't. I've got all my stuff ready to go, just waiting for them to give the go ahead. I know the rest of the VG team want to add videos as much as I want them. Videos have always been a big part of VG Sports and for me personally have always been the most enjoyable part of breaking down strats to the Madden Community.

I think it's because we are selling, where as youtube is for free. I know it has something to do with DRM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management) (digital rights management) . The other Madden sites that sell strats are technically posting images and videos illegally and are subject to litigation. However they don't fall under the same guides lines as we do since we are considered the "Official Madden Strategy Site" where as they are not.

jayjiggz88, the idea behind them is not to use each blitz every play but to mix them in with different coverage types while giving the same look. Any blitz can be exploited even by an average player if you keep running it over and over, but if you mix it in, then it makes it harder for your opponent to know when it's coming. I am sure you already know all this, but wanted to point it out to you.

i completely understand but i just dont feel theres even 1 play that is great...these are things u can find out on ur own..like the engage 8 plays and on sum of them theres no showing how to rework the play it just shows the play and what it does...i mean dont get me wrong the offensive guide was well done..but if i knew the dguide was like this i wouldnt have purchased..and im only speaking for myself since im a experinced madden player and it can help out other players

so the guide doesnt really show you how to improve a specific play, instead just explain what a play does? That's a waste of money, I was thinking about getting it...
