View Full Version : Who is more qualified to talk about football strategy?

This came up in another thread where Vito claims that since he served in the military (I had to bring it up because god knows he will say it ten times) he has more credibility to talk about big picture military issues then anyone who hasn't served.

Of course, the notion that your average grunt in the field has a better understanding of Big picture US military strategy then a guy working in the pentagon who never served is ridiculous, (heck, the guy in the oval office never served) but I think the above analogy drives it home.

Doesn't this automatically assume the argument that Vito is an idiot that served in the military

ie the 'HeHateMe' of the Military?

No, it only assumes what he has said, which is that EVERYONE who served is more qualified to speak on military issues then ANYONE who has not served.

I use extreme examples as they are included in his blanket statement.

Did he say that he has more credibility than ANYONE?

or

More credibility than ANYONE at VG that hasn't served.

Not him vs. VG, he said ANYONE in the military vs. ANYONE not in the military. Then he posted a 12 line quote from Colonel Jessup in a few good men (I'm not joking) and thought that made him right.:p

I actually like this line of thought, as it means Barack Obama has no credibility when it comes to military strategy.(I'm sure Vito didn't really think this through)

haha he probably just meant civilians like you or I or Stinkems241 on this message board.

Which thread is gayer? We should make a poll about that.

It can't be said that he "never" played football.

Belichick attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut where he played center/tight end.

After graduating, he took a $25-per-week job as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda in 1975. In 1976, Belichick joined the Detroit Lions as their assistant special teams coach before adding tight ends and wide receivers to his coaching duties in 1977. He spent the 1978 season with the Denver Broncos as their assistant special teams coach and defensive assistant.

It can be said that BB's experience in football far outweighs that of Rod Smart.

Don't fall for his "Tom-foolery" Mr. Gibbs. He's taking me WAAAAAY out of context, and I have the quotes to prove it.

They were debating over whether or not phrases like "The Global War on Terror" would inspire the troops more than the slogan they're using these days. (I've gotta be honest, I don't know what the hell they're calling it these days), but of course this just proves the point that I was trying to make...WE DON'T CARE ABOUT SLOGANS.

I persisted further to ask if anyone on the thread had ACTUALLY served.

Then this a** clown tries to tell me "well, I didn't serve, but my brothers have. So that gives me MORE insight than you because I have MORE of a vested interest."

Then he and his little cronies tried to insinuate that I and the other VETERANS probably joined "just for the free stuff".

So I had to get him.

YES...I used the quote from Col. Nathan Jessup from "A Few Good Men", because this guy and his cohorts clearly don't know what it means to serve THEMSELVES. I don't care if it was your twin brother who served...IT WASN'T YOU. So for you to say, "I know for a fact that more troops disagree with you" is a bit of a stretch don't ya think?

And yes, he (or should I say SHE) is quite the homosexual for attempting to make this little "analogy" for what...the third time now.

Side...you're kinda sad.

That enough info for you Mr. Gibbs?

Is homosexual bigotry accepted on this site now?

I mean I don't mind the personal insults, I get them from people on a day to day basis, but I do note that this guy has now made bigoted comments across 3 separate threads relating to homosexuals.

I don't see any difference between gay-bashing and any other type of bigotry, and it certainly wouldn't be tolerated against any other group.

Why is the question stupid? Does it not prove the point that you don't need experience in a field in order to fairly comment on said field?

Belichick did play football before, just not at the nfl level.

The point still stands though, he played and knows strategy.

She'll/he'll never acknowledge what you just said. She'll/he'll just stand by the only two/three who agree with her/him and ride that out.

Just you watch.
