Ok, so I love the P90 gun and I unlocked the ACOG? Scope and holographic scope?
The holographic one is crazy fast and comes up quick as hell.
I havent used the ACOG or whatever.
My question is this...
I have a class where I use the silencer. The silencer lessens my range. But the ACOG scope extends my range. So how does the game handle things like this? Is there any place you can see that actual rating of your gun, with multiple accesories combined?

The ACOG doesn't really extend the range of your weapon as it does the range you can see. It is by far my favorite, though a lot of people disagree. I would get rid of the silencer, especially if you are not playing on HC.
What good is the silencer when the person you killed knows where you are from the killcam? It just seems to make your bullets less effective.

ah the silencer...majority hates it but i love it
this most recent game ive played i killed someone in a room, and there was another guy in the room sniping out the window and he had no idea the guy behind him was just killed nor that i was in the room with him since i didnt make a sound...obviously i proceeded to headshot him from 2 feet away
basically too many people depend on the map for locating enemies...yeah it limits the bullets effectiveness but for me it doesnt matter since they dont know where i am so i can kill em regardless
as for the killcam...dont camp :)

I don't play anything by HC anymore, I like the fact that when you shoot someone they die instead of running through your bullets to stab you.
After you get used to it, it's hard to play the other mode again.

ugh tell me about it...we need team VG to play more HC, its more tactical and suspenseful than following the red dots

That's assuming I stay in one place afterwards.
When I kill someone I keep it movin'. I dont camp out for that reason. I stop look around sit for a little bit, then leave.
When the red dots show up, you can see every guy on the squad running towards them. Just watch your own team's movements.

Couldn't disagree more on the silencer. It keeps your shots off the HUD, which is huge. In COD4 it wasn't a big deal because there was a UAV up every 10 seconds. In this game you can go an entire game without a UAV being called in, thus keeping you off the radar. Killcam don't mean **** if you're moving. But people pretty much run to a place where there are red dots on the HUD. Silencer allows you to move into an area with multiple targets and not alarm several people once you make your first kill.
Silencer will also cut down the recoil on most weapons, namely the P90. P90 Cold Blooded (UAV JAmmer) and silencer was a common stealth class in COD4.
Also, don't put an ACOG on a p90. It's counter intuitive for a close range weapon

IF you have cold blooded you wont show up anyways, and if you are on HC you don't show up every time you fire either.

No. If you have cold blooded without a supressor you will show up every time you fire. Hence, on non HC it makes no sense to run cold blooded without a silencer.
On hard core it eliminates the sound of your gun -- obvioulsy -- which is important for search and TDM. It also eliminates your bullet trail/muzzle flash -- very important for search.

First of all. Never listen to the little bar graph things in the games. They are extreme estimations. I use this site if I really want to know the details.

This was my opinion as well. I learn a lot just by watching the team that I'm on. Whenever a shot is fired, all the green triangles run for it. Then some massive explosion takes evvvveryone out.

If you are honestly worried about getting killed because somebody sees your red dot when you fire then just play HC...I think the silencer is the lames acc in the game..JMO but Me...nor anybody I play with (lots of VG guys) has ever said...OO...someone just shot somebody near us...Let's get em! I think, if anything, people THINK that their red dot showing up is hurting them MUCH worse than it actually is...I mean, play ten rounds each way...I find it impossible that the silencer is getting you more kills and less deaths.

As a noob I can tell you I went through this same question. And I did test it out. I've found that I can't play the same way when I don't have the silencer vs when I do have it.
Noone actually "says someone just shot someone", but when someone shows up on the radar, you immediately make plans to either
a) go get them
b) get out of their way
I mean its really a simple game. Either go kill somoene, or try not to get killed.
I don't see how NOT showing up on the map is the same as showing up on the map.

For what it's worth, these are the guns that I've had the most success with in adding a silencer, and it having the least effect on range :
MP5K
P90
Tar
AK47
FAL
As Lev pointed out, the silencer will also cut down on recoil for some guns. I find that these guns are effected the least.

thats what i hate most about this game. there is no teamwork. mics are almost pointless. when i played RSV, that was one of the most crucial things... if you die, TELL EVERYONE WHERE YOU GOT KILLED AND WHERE THE ENEMY IS COMING FROM!!!!! sheesh!!

I was playing yesterday in terminal and there was heavy traffic coming from the entrance to plane cockpit and the store in the terminal. So I face one end and I tell the dude in front of me to face the other, that way he covers me and I cover him. Dude sees a red dot and just splits on me. I'm like WTF are you doing!!!! it makes no sense for him to run and get one guy when there's a sea of dumb mother****ers just walking around here.
By the way I use the HBAR Machine gun with the silencer and grip and that **** is the truth.

Not sure where I even intimated any of this. BTB gave a perfect example of how a silencer comes into play. If you are the type who presses and flanks near the enemy spawn it's especially valuable. If you flank 2-3 guys, shoot one without a silencer and none of them turn around to spot you, you would be playing against full-on retards. You should not be a slave to the HUD by any means, but most players are and pretty much all players use it as at least a guide to follow the action. With the lack of UAVs being called in compared to COD 4, it's almost like a faux cold-blooded without using the perk.
I can't speak on how many less deaths it will cause because there's no real equation. If you're good, you're good. If you suck, you suck. but often times getting a jump on that one guy means hitting your killstreak. Obviously a lot depends on your game style and the game type with which you play. On games with less kills and/or which are more tactical such as Search, FFA, TDM staying off the HUD is incredibly valuable. Domination, ground war, HQ, where the action is being forced -- not as big of a deal. Smaller maps like scrapyard, skid row etc., I wouldn't really see a need for it, either. I also wouldn't use it on burst weapons where you want to make sure you get that kill with one burst.
And there's absolutely no reason why someone should ever run cold blooded without a silencer.

Because cold blooded keeps air support from killing you all game, the silencer just makes your weapon weak especially in regular mode. Even if they don't see you it takes an hour to kill someone with that damn thing on.

I understand this. In a non-hardcore game, using cold-blooded should not be for the sole purpose of avoiding air support. Either way, doesn't change the fact that if you are running a stealth class, showing up on the hud when you fire and are trying to flank is completely counter-intuitive.
The weakening of your bullets at close to medium range is minimal, if non-existent. Whether you have stopping power on will typicaly determine how many bullets it takes outside of the WA200 and the UMP45.

I think the issue here is that you think WAY too many people actually spend THAT much time looking at Radar. I don't know anybody who gets killed because of the red dot on the radar after shooting. Seriously.

Again, I never said this. I'm saying almost everyone uses it as some frame of reference to varying degrees depending on map and game type. If you are sitting in an area with little or action, and a red dot shows up behind you in your vicinity along with the sound of a gun firing, are you going to stand there?
I'm also not saying that with or without is better than the other (I usually play without). I'm saying that depending on what you are trying to do, the silencer has a lot of advantages.
