Gentlemen:
DSF and I have decided on a course for the offseason to promote a little more activities. Let's agree on one point: while ideas and methods are good, it all comes down to league owners being active - no ideas or methods can substitute for your league participation. Period.
Our idea is not the best either; it does have some flaws as well. However, it is easy to implement, and it serves our purpose without forcing members to create gapping holes on their teams while simulating NFL's salary cap casualties to a small degree. Here's what we are proposing:
Every season playoff teams loose players due to demands for higher salary, salary cap, free agency, hence we are asking all playoff teams to drop one 80 overall player who is 32 year old or younger. All non-playoff teams will have to drop one 70 overall player who is 32 year old or younger. These players will be used in one round supplemental draft via the rookie draft order.
This meets our objectives in these ways:
1) You have more choices who you want to drop. There are more 80's and 70's players.
2) The 80's or 70's players who are 32 or younger can still be serviceable to other teams.
3) This creates a very small hole on each team causing owners to pursue ways to fill that gap hence a little more activities.
4) This gives teams that didn't make the playoff a better chance to improve a little, if not a lot.
5) Simulate NFL's Salary Cap casualties to a small degree.
6) Small amount of work for us and you. We will have only one round of supplement draft. We can finish in one day.
7) Helps guys who came in after the fantasy draft to fill their holes left by previous owners.
*As NB suggested, we should drop this required player among the seven, but I am hoping to hear from the rest of the league before we proceed with this idea and/or any changes needed. So hang in there. We will decide at the end of today then you can drop.
Again, doing nothing is not an option. Regardless of any method we chose, your league involvement is crucial to a healthy league.
Respectfully,
Vincent.
