Gentlemen
This is the official 2 Live Stews Madden League for the PS3 (Doug and Ryan Stewart can be heard on 790 the Zone in Atlanta from 1pm to 4pm and on Sporting News Radio and also seen battling Skip Bayless on First Take on Monday and Tuesday mornings on ESPN)
I have been running this league for 8 years now and it's been a lot of fun. We are currently in the playoffs of season 1 of a fantasy drafted league and we will transition to season 2 in March.
I'm going to have 7 fantasy drafted teams available to take over for season 2 from previous owners in season 1 who are not returning.
So I'm recruiting new owners for the league.
Our league doesn't have a ton of rules simply because most of the guys have been in the league for a few years now and we've weeded out shady players who rely on glitches and tricks to succeed. It's simply not tolerated in the league and violators are removed and not asked to return.
But we also don't try to over regulate play either. We believe most so called "money plays" can be stopped and it's up to the opponent to find a way to stop it and not the owner to not run those plays. Not glitch plays, but effective plays that can be tough to stop. Tough, not impossible.
In fact, here are the rules.
Rules:
1) Regarding trades:*
A) All trades must be presented to and approved by the commissioner before they are executed in the league.
B) Trades involving players 1 for 1 must be within 5 ranking points of each other, 2 for 2 combined 7 ranking points, and 3 for 3 combined 10 ranking points.
(This is to avoid any lopsided trades)
C) You can only trade 3 players at a time to a single team and no more then 6 total trades.
If you do a 1 for 1 player trade, the ranking points must be within 5 points of each other (a*93 ranked players for a 87 ranked player)
*
If you do a 2 for 2 trade, the total ranking points must be within 7 points of each other (two players combined ranking of 178 for two players*with combined rankings*of 171)
*
If you do a 3 for 3 trade, the total ranking points must be within 10 points of each other.
*
Do not do more then a 3*for 3 player trade*involving 2*teams.* And*dont*trade more then*5 players total.
Players under the overall ranking of 65 all count as 65 rankings.
So you can trade a player with a 60 ranking for player with a 37 ranking if you want to.
*
2) Regarding no huddle offense, here is when you can run it:*
A) During the last 2 minutes of the half or game, if you are behind in score.
B) If you are down more then 10 points at any time in the 4th quarter.
3) Regarding "going for it" on 4th down.*
A) Do what you like. It's the other teams responsibilty to play defense and get the ball back. But most of the time, try to use some common sense.
4th and 17 from your own 29 in the 1st quarter? Punt the ball....
*
4) Regarding games that get disconnected.
Got to be honest, this is the toughest one. There aren't a lot of options regarding disconnected games and not much flexibility. So even though sometimes this won't be fair, here it is. If the game gets disconnected in the 4th quarter and one team is up 21 points (or 14 points with less then 2 minutes remaining in 4th quarter), then winning team can finish out the game and get the win. In all other cases both teams are required to quick and replay the game.
If it's found that a certain team has a high number of "game restarts" after getting down early, that team will be removed.
*
5) Regarding Schedule:
You will have until Midnight on Monday's to pay each weeks games. On Tuesday mornings, I will advance the league and move to the next week. Anybody who falls more then 2 games behind will be removed and replaced.
*
6) Use of glitches:*
Anybody caught using any glitches of any kind will be removed. Many of you have been in this leagues (or others) to understand what should be acceptable. Most of us here are grown, let's all act accordingly and play fair and within the true spirit of competition.
*
7) Sportsmanship:*
I certainly don't mind trash talking on the message boards or even with use of mic during games, but don't cross the line. Don't be crued or lewd or disrespectful to other members of the league. Keep it light, keep it friendly, keep it all in good fun.
*
8) Use of substitutions:*
Keep it reasonable. Don't put CB's at WR and don't put WR at CB. Offensive players on offense only, defensive players on defense only. And even though the FB dive has been tone down, only sub either FB or TE for FB. And only exception is in split back (pro-form) sets. Then two HB's are allowed.
*
9) Settings:*
We will be playing on All-Pro settings, injuries and fatigue on, accelerated play clock on and no accelarated presention, 7 minute quarters.
10) Spirit of the league*
Play hard, play games on time, play fair and have fun.
So there it is.
