Whenever I try to run a draw. The Icons come up and block out my backfield. I cant see where to run until its too late. Anyone else have this problem?

What view are you using? I can usually see everything fine in overhead (anyone know if there is a way to get this mode in practice?).

Of course, I rarely get draws to work for me at all anyway so...

I think I use the default or classic view. I tried overhead once but then when kicking I couldnt see how to adjust the arrow up and down.

That's curable. Just hit the coaches view button or whatever the heck it is called. It will zoom out even further and you'll be able to see your punter. For field goals and kickoffs you should be able to see the kicker fine with overhead.

Considering that they have the 3D rendering engine equipped to handle pretty much any camera angle (you can see this in replay), they should have allowed you to set up custom viewing angles.

Oh well.

With overhead I can see my players. I just cant see the arrow move up or down for the elevation of the kick. I will check it again tonight. Do you just kick it with the default arrow.

For punts, when you hit the coaches view button you will be able to see the tip of the arrow. For punts I just adjust left/right for wind, but only a little bit. I am more concerned about distance since I rarely get good enough control on the 'backswing' part of the kick meter to really try hitting the corners.

For field goals I adjust manually for wind, but I can see that arrow fine.

You could always turn the kick help on, it does all the adjustments for you.

Frankly, the kicking process is overly complex. My kicker is one of the better one's in the NCAA (FSU's Xavier Bethia), but in my dynasty he's like 3 for 12 on field goals with me having the kick help off. I put this into the pass-drop category of dumb EA programming.

..Really?...I don't use the kick help and I don't seem to have that much trouble...I'm not perfect...far from it!!..but my kicker in my South Carolina dynasty is 7-9 with a long of 40 (wind was helping)....does get tougher with HFA and wind....now the dropped passes...that's another story! (WTF was EA thinking???)

Yes, really. The point at which I press the A button doesn't seem to correlate directly to where the meter stops on the dial. It appears random to me. I can mash the button and it seems like the meter will either 'jump' to a different location further along the dial or just keep going for a bit and then stop.

it is annoying as hell. Kicking should be the least complicated action in the game. All you should have to do is point the arrow and try to get the meter to whatever strength you want. Having the second part of the meter that affects left/right is overkill. It is too sensitive and has too much effect, and kickers just aren't that inconsistent.

I don't let it bother me though. If I'm between the 20 and 35 in 'field goal range', I'll just go for it and if I fail my D gets me the ball back most of the time.

Oh and the really annoying thing is that with my other profile where I had the kick help turned on, Bethia was hitting 50 yarders routinely.

For my Dynasty I wanted to use default settings with no help, no slider changes etc.

So I sacrificed the field goal game. Kinda like FSU in 1991....

Well I tried the overhead and cant get used to it. It makes me seem too far away. Also, even though one can see the arrow its hard to see how much it is being raised and lowered. Could this be the root of your kicking problem? I can kick 40 yarders with Temples crappy kicker with no aids.

I have a friend that only likes overhead so we always have to play with it on. I find that offense is easier when you get used to it but defense is harder to play because you cant see the ball. I end up over persuing a lot so they are usually shootouts. The draw is easier to run, but I just dont like it as much as classic or NCAA. I have pretty much abandoned draws out of ace formations. There are a few with I form and shotgun that still work fine though.

I do OK punting as I normally dont adjust the arrow at all and it is less sensitive.

Its the field goals that get me, and I can see the arrow just fine from overhead in FG formation.

Its been my experience that you have to adjust the arrow for maximum distance on punts and field goals.

I always punt line drive kicks out of bounds or as close as possible to it. It can backfire if you are not a good with the kick meter, but it can pay off huge with a maximized kick in distance and no return. also, if the ball gets behind the returner, its going to bounec forever and a 60 yard punt is possible =) if I have the wind, I push the arrow down some, but not as much as I normally would.

With long field goal kicks, or kicks against the wind, it is best to put the arrow down a bit for distance and speed in the kick to fight the wind. if you hang it up in the wind, its going to blow off course badly in this game.

My field goal kicks always seem to be wide left, so I always push the arrow to the right a little more than if the arrow was pointing perfectly to the center of the goal post. This extra "english" on the kick has helped me a lot.

I think what you are talking about is during a draw. We play a dynasty here at work during lunch, and this happens to a couple of guys. It never happens to me because I use normal passing mode. The people it does happen to all use the quick pass mode. Try changing to Normal Passing mode in your controller setup.

There are 8 of us and we get probably 2 weeks done every week. It is pretty fun. I work for a Multimedia company so there are a bunch of graphics and programmer geeks.
