Come on GAV PS3 is the ultimate system. And it's getting a FREE let me say that again FREE update to have 3D capability. Whereas XSux still doesn't have the bluray player and would want you to pay for the attachment. Fail.

Also the preorder from Gamestop will have 4 fighters for 360: James McSweeney, Marcus Jones, Brendan Schaub, and Roy Nelson.

and SEVEN for PS3: James McSweeney, Marcus Jones, Brendan Schaub, and Roy Nelson. With classic fighters Dan Sevren, Jens Pulver, and the legend Royce Gracie

The 360 controllers are definitely better for UFC.

Plus, I don't think you can beat me.

I'm no jujitsu expert in real life, but on the sticks I am. :p

I need to work on my standup in the game, but I'm king on the ground.

My standup isn't horrible, but it's below average among good players.

GAV, I sent Tekken back today, got it from Gamefly and loved it, might grab when it drops, seeing I need money for SSF 4, Red Dead and UFC the next few weeks. I played some online UFC last week and I am real rusty lol. My ground game got better, but my stand up went down the hopper.

I understand the ground game inside and out (meaning I know how to see what is happening and know exactly what to do to limit my mistakes while still taking advantage), but I can't dash very well in the standup and it forces me to play defensive.

I am really good at countering transitions (w/o missing blocks) and finishing submissions.

I'm not among the best Tekken players online, but I can hang with them and beat them here and there.

One big key to controlling the ground game is knowing where movement initiates when it is strikes as opposed to transitions.

It was rumoured it would be released on April 20th, but it wasn't.

I think a safe bet would be this Wednesday (April 28th) because that is exactly a month before the actual game's release - and that's when the demo dropped last year.

Played a little bit this morning.

Good stuff. Feels like an entirely new game.

Some points:

1) Leg kicks cause your opponent to slow down in the standup a lot.

2) I got KTFO on beginner because I got perfectly countered by trying to haymaker.

3) Thai clinch is harder to hold onto, it's no longer a guessing game

4) Unique moves for each fighter are awesome.

5) Fights can stop by cut.

6) Presentation is better

Fun fun game so far. Can't wait for the full game

Full transitions motion startups (up or down) actually matter this year.

For instance on the left side, to transition - motion the R stick from top to bottom. On the left side to posture, motion the R stick from bottom to top. If you're on the right side, it's opposite; posture - top to bottom - and - transition - bottom to top.

It sounds more complex than it is.

I dominate the cpu consistently on expert on the ground, but I can't hang with the cpu on that level in the stand-up game.

Can anyone here beat the cpu on expert without taking him down and being a blanket?

Ps3 has 3 fighters (Jens, Severn, and Royce) that aren't on 360. I'm not putting up a link, but you know I'm giving you a fact.

The Ps3 controller is too flimsy and wimpy for this game though. The 360 controller is much better for this game. This is my opinion.

Make the cpu committ to patterns to destroy him on the ground.

From the top, punch once - then flick. Then punch twice, then flick. Then transition. Rinse and repeat and you'll eat the cpu up on the ground - especially on expert.

Just spam transitions at off-beat times. There is no flick counter in the clinch game.

For anyone still having trouble with the clinch game, to block a clinch transition - hold left or right on the R stick. Once you block it, the opposing fighter will make a move, but your fighter will retake the position (via underhook or push). As your fighter retakes the position, you can transition freely. You can actually complete up to 3 transitions before the other fighter can recover depending on how fast you recognize it and can react. Once you understand this, beating the cpu in the clinch game is a cinch.

People have been complaining about being taken down too easily by Lyoto Machida. Here's a post explaining how to deal with it from there.

The release of UFC Undisputed 2010 is imminent. We are less than 48 hours away until midnight strikes and Gamestops across the land unleash THQ's long-awaited effort onto the masses. Once we get home and insert the disk, the bold amongst us will no doubt jump straight online. It is here we brave pioneers will inevitably face the first wave of exploits, cheese, and move spamming.

Sure to be among the most abused moves on day one is Lyoto Machida's trip takedown. As most everyone knows by now, this takedown is initiated very quickly and has no struggle state. Meaning, the only way to defend it is to hold back on the right stick.

First things first. Do I believe that this move is balanced or fair? No. I think the move, for the most part, is completely unfair and broken. However, we will have to deal with it until THQ releases a patch after the uproar this move will cause on the forums (an uproar that can be seen coming a million miles away, mind you).

So what strategy will we employ to anull this takedown for the time being?

After several dozen matches on Expert, I devised a way to avoid Machida's takedown about nine out of ten times while still avoiding damage, effectively letting me keep the fight standing until I want to take it to the ground.

Here's the gist of it. The way to avoid his takedown while still inflicting damage is with running and stepping strikes to the body. Why to the body? Because he can use sways to dodge head strikes. He cannot sway out of the way of body punches and leg kicks, so you will force him to guard low. IF you have trained your opponent to guard low, then you can start using stepping head strikes. But ONLY if you've trained him to guard low.

After your stepping body strike comes the most important part of the strategy. Step BACKWARDS immediately after your strike lands WHILE HOLDING BACK ON THE RIGHT STICK. What does this do?

Doing a flick-step backwards after your strike lands gets you OUT of harm's way from strikes. 90% of his moves will whiff you if you time it right.

Holding back on the right stick WHILE you are flick stepping STILL grants you takedown defense even though your character won't have his arms out in the typical TDD animation. So if Machida (or whoever else has the takedown) shoots in on you WHILE you are in the middle of your backwards flick-step, you will STILL stuff him.

Do this over and over. Vary your stepping strikes between kicks or punches depending upon who you are playing as. In the demo, I use Rampage's stepping body jab and stepping body straight. I use Shogun's running knees and his stepping leg kicks.

So let's go over it again:

1. Execute a flick-step body strike
2. IMMEDIATELY flick-step backwards, out of range, WHILE holding back on the right stick.

Eventually, if you keep doing this, you will frustrate your opponent as you will be inflicting damage and he won't be. He will become flustered as a knee to the face is his only reward for spamming the cheese-trip.

If you want to strike freely, back yourself up against the cage. This way, when he tries to take you down, you'll be able to support yourself.

Now obviously, there are other strategies for stopping the takedown, such as taking Machida down yourself or working him over in the clinch, thereby never letting him execute a takedown at all.

But my strategy is focused on STUFFING his takedown consistently. And the most effective way I've found to do that is to quickly enter his range with a stepping strike and quickly exit his range by stepping back and holding back on the stick.

The only real counter to this strategy that I can think of is if he does a stepping strike himself to chase you while you're stepping backward.

Try it out and let me know what you think.
I'm going to try implementing this strategy too. I can rip up the cpu on expert now, but I want to get ready for competitive play for when it drops Tuesday.
