... when they know that sht is gonna be verified by someone?

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – On a weekend dedicated to honoring military service, Illinois Senate candidate Mark Kirk has acknowledged he claimed he was named the U.S. Navy's intelligence officer of the year, an award he never won.

The Republican's disclosure comes at a time when politicians face heightened scrutiny of their military records, thanks to a Connecticut Democrat (Blumenthal) who wrongly said he had served in Vietnam.

Because most politicians are rich men and women with nothing better to do.

These fools don't care about making the USA a better place. They're are simply dabbling in a hobby.

I think it's just a game that bored lawyers play.

They don't care about citizens, the future of this country, etc like we want them to. It's just a game.

It actually isn't that hard to understand. They start lying about it at a point where no one cares enough about them to actually check (local politics), then once they move to the big stage, they are stuck with the lies.

Lol pretty much. I mean, there are guys that don't really put themselves out there like that. I don't think Bernie Sanders has ever really had a gotcha moment. Or someone like Grayson in Florida. I'm not saying they're not abrasive, but it's typically those sort of guys that are there to actually affect the government in some way rather than becoming career politicians. Like Sideout said, they start the ball rolling when they're getting into local politics, then they have to keep up with the lies.
