Amani's World Cup 2010 Trip Thread

This thread is for me to share my travels over to South Africa (from LA) to the VG family. I will be heading to at least three games (all of Nigeria's games) and maybe 1 US game if we can swing it ... try to get some good stuff.

I have also been contacted to maybe DJ at a few parties as well so we will see about that too!! Gonna try to meet up with Peter King from SI while I am here too ... doubtful on that one ...

Right now I am on a layover in Paris after a 10.5 hour flight from LA. :eek: Not enough time to get out to the city of Paris but thankfully I have "The Wire" entire series to keep me occupied during most of the flight.

I will post up pics and stuff. I will be visiting Johannesburg, Bloomfontein, and Durbin with maybe a side trip to Cape Town. Also going on a 3 day safari (gonna get some good video to share from that) ...

Most definitely. They get you close to the action, so to speak. Then there is the "Devil's Pool" at the top of Victoria Falls in Zambia; I think I'd s*** my pants if I got this close to the edge (last pic I promise, I don't want to hijack your thread) :

At the Airport in France they had this cool PS3 game hub. Only issue were that the games were older (FIFA 09, etc) ... never seen this before.

OK, I just got back from the safari. It was amazing. Just amazing. I have video and pics to share. Check out this video of a leopard that walked by us. This leopard only appears once every 3 months. Look how close it is ... :eek:

Now we are here in durban. Going to get tickets for the Holland vs Japan game.

The stadium is the most beautiful stadium I have ever seen. Amazing piece of architecture.

The experience is wonderful. The country is doing a great job of hosting this event. Finding tickets is a little hit and miss. We got tickets to Japan vs. Netherlands about 35 minutes before kickoff. 5 rows back from the field around the penalty box! Sweet seats. Full price of course. There are people scalping a few but those quarterfinal games will be interesting. I would bet you could start looking now online and trying to secure tickets. Which cities are you thinking about going to? Durban is nice (and warm) and Joburg is cool too. Cape Town I hear is nice ... Bloemfonteain is very cold. -5 degrees Celcius last night.

I would just fly between cities. South Africa Air has cheap flights.

This has been an amazing time. I HIGHLY recommend going to a game reserve lounge also. Wait until you see my pics and video.

There is a ticket center at every stadium and also random places in the city. Go there and ask for tickets. As you get closer to game time, tickets are released every 30 minutes b/c of cancellations, etc ...
