US gets game winning goal and it's taken away for a penalty that wasn't there....if anything the US were being the ones shoved in the box. This is why I dont watch soccer; Two bad calls could've been overturned and the US could be moving on. Bad call number 1 was a handball yellow card on Beasly when the ball hit him in the face. Even if it hit his face then his hand it's accidental and play continues with a free kick. Now Beasly has to sit out next game. Plus the same ref made the 2 stupid calls...someone pull out the racist card.

It was Findley I think but I think they can appeal that and it better get overturned.
But
We got absolute fcked. That ref was a disgrace and should never officiate a game again. Absolute joke. Was never in control of the game.

You have to see it though. There is no question that it was an epic fail of call.

You've had your fair share of complaints over officiating.

The U.S. ALWAYS gets hosed by calls in international sports. The refs call stuff based on their opinion of the U.S., not what actually happens.

lmao there's a point in the replay where every single player in the penalty area of Slovenia is hugging every U.S. player in a bear hug/full nelson

Techincally no but it happens all the time. It's hit or miss if it gets called. But for a penalty to be called on us is fcking absurd. It was incredibly clean on our part.

I just finished watching the USA game. DAMN I'M SEETHING!!! HOW THE EFFING HELL DOES THAT FRIKKIN REF GET TO OFFICIATE A WORLD CUP!!?!?!?
soccer people around the world are throwing their hands up in the air. they are with the USA on this one. lots of people are praising Landon Donovan and Michael Bradley, the coach's son. Donovan is good, but today he put the team ON HIS BACK! that was one hell of a performance by Landon. HOLY $*%#!!! His goal was even better than Maicon's goal from Brasil!!
I know why they started off poorly, it's all just putting players in the right position. just simple tactics. I really like the young kid Torres, and he showed his value on the set pieces, but the coach put him waaaaay too deep in the midfield. He's NOT a defensive midfielder. so why was he all the way back next to the defensive line? That's Bradley's job, or another midfielder. Torres needed to be high up top. an attacking mid. that's where he's dangerous. When he was subbed at half, with Edu and Feilhaber coming in, Bradley moved forward and Edu stayed back. That was better balance. Bradley scored the tying goal so it worked out, but the first half, he should have been staying back while Torres should have been much higher up the field.
Donovan delivered a great cross for the go-ahead goal. the ref should be court marshalled. plain and simple, he was worse than petrified donkey testicles!!

Nice comeback from the US. They should not have been behind. They are very "naive" in defense as many of the non-biased reporters over here say. Someone should have stepped to the ball on the first goal. Terrible defense. And the 2nd goal was so close to being offside.
That 3rd goal was taken from us. We were robbed. All the fans here in Durban (Netherlands, Japan, England, Algeria) agreed too ... Terrible.
Ya, that was ridiculous. Is that allowed?
It would have to me a major take down to be a penalty so how in the world does the call go against the US?
Nonetheless, all the US needs to do is win and they are through to the next round. Algeria will be a tough, touch match for them. They play fast and accurately.

Okay, so what's that buzzing noise that is always in the background of soccer matches? I've always wondered, but I have little to no experience with soccer.

that is only in south africa.. this doesn't happen in most stadiums around the world.. they have this horn in South Africa called a Vuvuzela (which only produces a B flat tone btw) that everybody in the stadium has. it results in this horrific buzzing noise.
the broadcasters have been trying to filter out the noise so it's not so bad when it comes across the tv. they've actually done a good job the last couple days.
