This new defense has intrigued me since this year's version of the game came out. I've always been a 4-3 guy (well really I still am) but I thought that since facing this D kinda confuses me...I really wanted to be able to throw some of the same confusion back at my online opponents.
My first couple of attempts at using this D online has been somewhat futile and I've even had a game where I switched base defenses and audibles at the half cause I just wasn't stoppin the guy. Well taking some advice from Getting Awn and using blitzing Cover 3 zones...I saw my defensive performance improve while still using the 4-3...Nickel and Dime. Well last night I switched over to using the 3-3-5 for two online games and picked up back-to-back shutouts.
My audibles included:
FS Spy
Crash 3
Zone Blitz
Cover 3 Zone
Quarters
Anyone have any other defenses out of this formation that really work well for them?

..If you face someone who likes to run option or run outside try SS Double Spy....also the MLB Zone Blitz works nice as a chnge-up to Zone Blitz...I also like the play where the MLB is a spy (can't remember the name  ) and I like to move him to the edge and pinch the LBs so it gives the Offense a modified 4-2-5 look and blitz with the MLB off the edge...other than that I use all the ones that you listed above....this has become my base defense as well......(I sprinkle in a little Nickel once in a while as well.........)

I use it as a change-up D. Its usually good for a 'what-the-heck-do-I-do-with-this' moment from the opposing QB.
I mix up with a lot of D's: 3-4,4-3, nickle, dime, 4-2-5, 3-3-5, 4-4. Tis is actually very unrealistic, but it sure does work well in this game ;)

i use 3-3-5 as a base but i have been using the 4-2-5 lately online guys think the can roll out and sling it well in the 4-2-5 is the double safety qb spy and since i use texas (good corners) i call the double spy force the qb one way with a de and watch as my safety comes unblocked to crush qb. 3-3-5 is great once you have em on their heels. i come out with lots of pressure and then slowly switch to zone blitzes or zones that dont have blitzes and bring manual pressure i like bringing the spy on a blitz since he really isnt assigned an assignment. mixing nickel and the 3-3-5 and the 4-2-5 has really helped my d now in games i win i give up less than 10. the nickel is still my favorite since you can get great heat from nb or lb but it is still ok vs. the run.

Against most ace single back formations I like to go with the 4-2-5. On 3rd down and against most shotgun formations I like to use the 3-3-5. I love the zone blitzes out of both of these formations, I like to set up an overload blitz on a true passing situation. I like to mix my de up up the whole game. I also like to mix in some 34 30 stack Adj, 4-3 , and nickel with my 4-2-5 and 3-3-5 DE's.

I also like to use 335 storm red, pinch the Lb's, call b n run to get safeties closer to the LOS(optional), and blitz a safety off the edge. :D

I am a prodominately 4-3 guy but I do run nickel and dime when the situation calls for it. I love the 3-3-5 formation and I like to use it when I play someone that likes to run out of 3 and 4 wr sets.
The 3-3-5 is better against the run than standard nickel b/c SS are better tacklers than CB (Usually)
the 3-3-5 is better in the pass than the 4-2-5 b/c LB are faster than DL.
I like the 3-3-5 b/c you can send 4 rushers (3DL and 1 LB) more efficiently by overloading one side without selling out on a blitz.
I don't play online but I do play against people as much as CPU. We play with some pretty realistic slider settings.
General Tip
What plays you run are not as important as when you run them. I use to be a pressure, pressure, pressure guy which works great against lesser opponents but it will get you torn up against a very experienced player so I have since learned to mix in a lot of zones with my blitzes.
Nothing like fakeing a blitz and dropping back into a cover 2 zone on first down. then going to 3-3-5 SS dogs on second (good for stopping the run or pressureing QB on Pass or slowing down option) and then it is is 3rd and long using 3-3-5 cover 3 and delay blitz with spying LB.
Variety is the spice of life...and death of QB's

zone blitz out the 335 is great play, especially for a base De. I usually don't even make many adjustments with it.
