I like PSU a lot. They are a really balanced team. No superstars, but all but two of their starters are 80 OVR or better(and the other two, an OL and an LB, I believe, are 78 OVR). Good running game with a good HB in Austin Scott, a great FB, and a two-headed monster at QB in Zach Mills and Michael Robinson. I usually start Robinson. He's 85 OVR with 85 SPD and runs the option like a mofo. He tends to be streaky passing though. Mills is 89 OVR and is a better passer, but still has 70 SPD. It just throws me off that he's a lefty, or I'd probably play him more. Regardless, it's nice to have two good QBs in case one gets hurt or starts stinking up the field. Another thing I like is that their special teams are solid. Kicker is 82 OVR and punter is 86 OVR. It seems like a lot of the 2nd tier teams have a good kicker and terrible punter, or vice versa (or they both suck!). One drawback is that they don't have a lot of team speed. They have a 3rd string HB who has 92 SPD who I use for kick returns, but you're not going to break any huge returns. The WR corps is pretty deep. Your top 4 WRs have ratings of 84, 82, 80 & 80. I like to put their #2 WR, Kinta Palmer, in the slot because he's the fastest of the bunch. Their D is pretty solid all around. No studs, but no real liabilities either.

Ultimately though, if you want to be successful with a 2nd tier team, you just need to pick one and keep playing with them. If you start to learn a team inside & out, you can even compete with the big guys. I play about 70-75% of my games with Colorado. I lose a lot, but I've pulled off some big upsets too, over the likes of OU, Texas, LSU (a couple times), and Virginia. I'm not really afraid to play the dudes who use top teams because a lot of those guys aren't the best play-callers. They just use top 5 teams to make up for their deficiencies.

Boston College is a very Sound team. It is Deceptive also. They have a 94,92, 2 90 spd receivers. They have a good group of Rbs, and their Qb has a little spd at 74. Their defense is good enough. I just know that I ply zone with them, and try to keep everything in front of me. Like the above writer said. U have to get comfortable with the team. I am like 15-2 with Boston College, and I can do very well against most teams. The only teams that I have problems with is OK, USC. Bcause they have Safeties that r quick enough to run with my Running backs/Receivers. U need to ply against teams that Have a little slower speed at Safety. Anything 88 and below gives u an honest chance. I learn not to ply with OK. People just ply zone with OK, and the overall speed over whelms BC....

i have been using utah lately they are ranked 25 but nobody is going to get scared when you pick them , virginia tech isnt bad either ,purdue can be worked with. I have been playing under a new name rti34 since my i moved and my cable went through some trouble and ol blueweeds got about ten disconnects most i was leading arrrghhhh.... with rti34 i have been basically playing play now and matching whoever the other guy picks. i use fsu texas texas a&m minnesota utah virginia tech im 13 and 2 with this name with about 8 shutouts.... my point is if you have a system / gameplan you can use a multitude of teams. I have been using utahs playbook and was having great success until last night i played top100hater who analog blitzed me the best ive seen. utahs playbook doesnt have many two back set or use the tight ends and i was away so i couldnt audible much. he blitzed out of nickel spread one de and manually brought either the nb or de. if you see him try him and let me know what worked for you (ps2)

is boise state ranked? they are good to play with also, nice qb with decent arm stregth and acc. no defense though, so you'll have to work with them.

i've beat a couple of my friends with UAB. they are decent

UAB's QB is HUGE. Do they do him justice in this game?

That's a shame, that kid is fun to watch. Too bad they don't get more national exposure.

I'd love to have him on my created team ;)

Sometimes I put him at the safety slot. He has 88 spd....Plus he is a lb, so u know he will lay a lick on ya....

I like OSU.
Everyone of their running backs are sick and so is the QB

i play as MTSU though I do not play online I do play friends here at my place. I have managed to beat Purdue and Miami and almost pull one out from UT in Knoxville. Given though I know what i am capable of doing with them and know their strengths and weaknesses.

South Carolina is a great team nonranked they have the one of the fastest qbs on the game plus he is the back up so the starter you can really take chances with 2 good rbs and wrs are underated speeds like 95 91 88 if u dont know about them u can put up 14 pts quick!

I am now plying with Fresno state. I am tired of plying with anyone over 20. I ply with NCstate. I think that is my only top 25 team that I will use from now on. I prefer to ply with Non Ranked teams. I beat Michigan on Saturday. I ran in a 2 pt conversion with 13 secs. Left. 43-42!!!!! Who wants to ply with a team that has over powering awareness. That's no fun. I prefer the strategy of the game. Not just plying zone, and allowing the cpu to make plys for u.

I ply with.
-Boston College
-Mississippi St.
-Fresno State.

It is a great way to get highly ranked fast. Get a good unranked team i.e. Boston College. Ply good teams. U can beat any team that has safeties/free safeties with 88 spd and under. I won't ply the Sooners/USC any more. They have safeties that u can call up for bump and run, and can run just as fast as ur RBs. U have to b able to get mis-matches. That's the exciting part of the game. A lot of people get the high ranked teams bcause of their awareness. So they don't have to do as much. I've out grown plying with top ranked teams. It was fun in the beginning, but it loses its appeal very quickly. But I love to beat highly ranked teams... That is the quickest way to get ranked...

I am biased; but purely in terms of gameplay, it is hard to beat S. Carolina. Just look at their lineup. The computer gives them way more credit than they deserve IMHO. When I play dynasty and don't control them, the computer has them in the top 5 every year.

what about OleMiss? I frowned as i did not see my team mentioned on any of your lists. OleMiss has a fairly decent qb with a 76 spd rating. 5 Recievers that have at least 82+ in catch (once u rearrange the roster). The recievers are the most diverse in the game. You have a possession, balanced, speed and one that can play both db and wr because of his 62 in tackle. A safety with 92 rating and the ss is 82 overall. One Db is in the 80s while the there is 78, the only reason for this is because EA gave him less Tackle than a reciever. They have good depth at running back and fullback.
I am close to breaking into the three digit rankings playing with only olemiss.

Bowling Green is a great non-top 25 team to use

They have a great (but underrated QB) in Omar Jacobs, who can run and pass
4 very good WRs (2 athletic, 2 possession)
a very good RB in PJ Pope who can run the ball and catch very well out of the backfield
a solid Dline (#90 Crossley is a beast)
a nice set of LBs
and one of the best DBs on the game, Keon Newson #17
and finally, a good kicker

The Falcons are a great team for the passers who also like a speedy QB...

ECU is i think about the best of THE WORST. and i mean bad now mind u. i think they are a c-. but they have a 93speed WR on the bench. 91 speed rb and 80ovr qb with 74 speed. i believe speed kills in this game. thats why i am 11-1 with my only loss to a late t.o. to miami.. 21-16. just pick a team and play a season with them and LEARN them good.
