I've read that running the option is the best type of offense to run if your playing with a created cupcake team. What do you all think? Wishbone? Run n Shoot? Power Spread?

Go with the spread.

Why would the spread be better than the other type of offenses for this type of team?

For one thing, the spread can incorporate some option (ie speed option). More importantly though, is the name itself 'spread'. The offense is intended to spread the defense out which should allow you to take advantage of mismatches AND space more efficiently. Since you are in the SG formation, you get better protection and separation from the rush, and it also means you don't have to have the most blazing, talented players to get it to work.

You DO need to become familiar with a few passing plays and know when to use them (mostly ins, slants, and angles), but they are generally high % and intended primarily to keep the defense honest and back just enough to cover the pass and give you the space you need to run (basically the opposite of the R-N-S, where you use the run to keep the defenses IN enough to open the passing game).

My created team to replace Duke isn't really a cupcake...B- squad. So, I can get away with running the I a lot (and I do quite a bit), which is a bit more of a balanced offense. I get around 250 yards rushing and passing a game now.

For your purposes, one thing I would suggest when recruiting is get BIG O-linemen. 300+ lbs, even if they aren't rated highly. That will give you more time for everything, and with slower players you'll need that. Be patient and try to have all of your plays in the 3-5 yard range rather than worrying too much about big gainers. Milk the clock like there's no tomorrow too.
