Is any one else having trouble with Play action plays? I'll set it up with my base running plays but when I go to the Play action I always get sacked or get hurried. Its as if I'm running a screen that allows the D line to come threw almost instantly .

I encounter the same problem. Even after setting it up by running the ball. I also use slide protection to no avail. sucks.

I find that PA Boot passes work the best. I have notice that regular pa does not protect all that well.

i've completely scrapped playaction since I do not find it to be effective one bit.

Try using Runs and Slants to set up the play action.

PA plays are useless due to the fact once u fake the run ur opp will automatically rush you with whomever he is usering. I have my safety n just rush up the middle and there is a sack basicaly everytime. Only time it does work is if the man usering takes the wrong route and gets blocked.

That's when you kill the blitz with Slants... They should back off AND respect the RUN. That's when play action is most
effective. Just my thoughts.

I agree completely on the topic. I'm an advocate in setting up my run to use the play action, but to all of your points I still get instant heat from the pass rush at times even forcing a fumble. A couple of you have already said you have scrapped the play action this year and I agree, it is just way too risky.

Yeah the Blitz is nasty this year! It's a risky play for sure. I looks for opportunity's... I call it a lot - but audible out of it most of the time.

I actually rarely have a problem with PAs unless the coverage picks up the WR/TE I am targeting. If you are getting blitzed on a PA, you are going to eat dirt. It's simply due to the fact that the fake hand of in the pocket allows to much time for the DBs to hit the gaps. There are a couple ways around this. If you know they are shooting the A and/or B gaps, pinch the O-line. With that being said, a blitz off the edge is hard to stop , and if you suspect he is blitzing, never through a PA as a blitz is the natural enemy of a PA.

Setting up the PA with a run only works when you are against the CPU as a human player rarely calls their defensive schemes according to actually football strategy. You will see guys running a 1-4-6 against a I-form, etc. You want to look for a 3-4, 4-3, nickle coverage, and I've found it most affective against man. My play is the I-form Pro PA where the TE runs a out post. About 30% of the time the #1 WR is open over the top on the streak. Not a huge fan of hitting the flats on a PA so I usually with hotroute the HB to stay in and block on the side I think the heat is coming from. Finally, hit the lab man, go to practice mode on all madden against a good defense and look to see what formations and coverages your PA works against and doesn't. - Capt_Slim
