I've been playing a lot of NCAA football since the end of our season... I just wanna share some general ideas with you guys on the passing game.
Are bullets pass bad?
You know what, I don't think so. At first, I thought you really had to control how hard you press that button so the receiver could have a easier pass to catch. After playing a lot of games... I've changed my mind on the subject. Most of my "under 15 yards" pass are bullets and I'm at 63% on heisman default.
So why my receivers are droping every ball?
The first thing is composure... I think they "over did it" if you ask me. A rattle player will drop a lot of balls even if he's a super player. It get's worst on 3rd down and in the 4 quarters of a tight game. Don't even bother passing the ball to a rattle WR on the road!!! Sad...
What else?
That might sound stupid but the next thing to me is : that WR of yours, is he open? I mean, is he REALLY open? They will drop the ball if they get hit by a defender right after the ball hit them. That's where matchup kicks in. A 90 overall WR will not drop it most of the time if he get's hit by a 70 overall DB right after the catch.
Other stuff that I feel is important?
The precision of the ball is all about the QB. With good ones (90+ accuracy), you can use you stick to throw the ball away from defenders with a lot of success. If your QB is more the scrambler type... do just that!!! Roll out so you can be near your target. By cuting down on the flight distance of the ball, you will be more accurate.
Check your QB arm. Don't even bother throwing down field vs zone unless your guy is wide open if your QB has no arm... Those 12 yards in, out, hooks,... they need power!!! A lot of power!!! Keep in mind that a pass in the left flat from the right hash is worst then a 12 yards hook from the weak WR.
I just wanted to start a thread on the passing game... Tell me what you think of all this...
Thanks
