Defending the Fake Spike

Fake spike play. QB throws to WR on left side. Nothing works, Zone he cuts under C and FS doesn't get there. Man @ Man, user catchs you all game long. Blitz and the pass is gone.

How do you stop it? Specifics please!!!!!!!!

U have to manually blitz the scrub. If you can get around the corner, before he can set up and pass, u will get a sack everytime. That is what I always depend on to stop this ply.

the fake spike takes long enough for the uber-blitzes to get through also. 4-2-5 middle or the 4-3 monster green. or use 5-2 and line shift to take the left end

just play the safety and stop that it is too easy to stop
